FSBO Seminars To Do or Not To Do

By
Home Stager with Take 2 Home Staging

I was contacted today by a group that is putting together a seminar targeting for sale by owner homes.  They were asking me to come speak at the seminars and inform the homeowners about the benefits of staging.

My opinion is since I am currently working with realtors, most who are paying for or reimbursing the homeowners for my services that this would not be in my best interest.   I was just hoping to get some feedback from the AR gang because I value your opinions.

Thanks :)

Erica, I don't think it would hurt your business to do the seminar, and someone surely will learn something you have to offer, yes?  Yes!  I say go for it.

Erica, I agree with Bob.  I think anything you can do to get your name out there and educate people about staging has to be a good thing,

Erica-

I work with FSBO's and my agents know that.  They also know that the approach I take to explaining the benefits of staging is that it makes all other marketing avenues more effecitve and the most important avenue being online marketing.  The MLS cannot be beat in our area for online marketing, so if they want an mls listing, they must hire an agent.

When they refer to pricing, I tell them that I am not qualified to address that question.  We can all look up what a house is listed for, but the info on the actual sale price is not so easy - the person to find that out for them...a realtor.

In short though I work with FSBO's I am always gently nudging them towards an agent.  I refer them by proximity - whose office is closest.  It gives them another way to be in contact with a potential client that they would have not had before.  And because I truly believe in the value of an agent, they don't mind my FSBO work.
