I would like to open this blog with, I understand what it feels liek to be desperate for a sale. At what cost are we to try and sell a home? It seems that many fudiciary duites have been tossed out the window.

I have only been practicing real estate full time for about a year now and have been very blessed with my success, however, it has been a struggle to get to where I am now, however, I made it and I did it the right way.

I have seen agents sign for buyers as power of attorney when there was a dought whether that agent could do thtat or not, I have had agents tell me the bottom line to get the deal done (of course I have to tell my client that info.)

I am concerned that Realtors will continue to get a bad rap as long as "we" act like this.

I know I can't be the only one concerned with this, but I haven't seen a much in the blog world. Lastly, I would like to say that 90-95% of Realtors I have delt with have been tremendous, but as usual the few make everyone look bad.

Thank you to the 90-95%, and Happy selling!

3 Comments on Dealing with Desperate Agents...

Hi Matt,  great post, and this brings up something that I too am concerned with.  The best thing we can do is remain ethical, trustworthy, and above the standard.  Those agents will fall somewhere along the way (or they already have).  I recently got a listing agreement because I refused to do something unethical and the owner of the home said to me that "Well, other agents will do it!"  I politely told him that it was unethical and against the State of Tennessee Real Estate Standards and that I would have no part in it.  He called me the next day to list.  So, it pays to do the right thing ALWAYS.

Good Luck, http://www.janiemasterson.com

So true - I think it is unwise to get into real estate if you don't have some "cushion" set aside -  if you are flat out desperate for a sale, you're going to tend to be more desperate.  No matter what, despire how bad you "need the money" you can NEVER compromise your duties to the client

That's why some refer us to be one step above or below a car salesman. We have got to stay ethical and moral 100% of the time as it will come back to bite us in the you know where.
