So after a long few hours touring the now open parade of home in Solterra (Lakewood, CO) last night, We decided to stop by a wine tasting that is in my neighborhood. This runs every Friday and Saturday at the Highlands Winesellar. We tried 4 wines by Rodolfo, I believe it was from Argentina. We liked two of them; The Torrontes, a fresh unoaked white perfectly unsweet, and the Malbec, an intense peppery red.
After the tasting, to the lull of the live musician, we searched for 2 wines, solely on label. We have listened to women blog about how they chose wine and the story behind it and the label cathing their eye were the biggest factors! Well, this time we were in luck. We had one white and one red that we both enjoyed! Halelujah!

Our tests were: An Italian Chianti from Bootleg. This bottle is textured grey with an orange zipper up the front. This was a great smooth rich berry wine, not to acidic.
Now, we are under the impression that Sauvignon Blanc originated in New Zealand, so we got a SV from Marlborough called Silver Birch. The label has a pretty picture of thin tree trunks and a great story on the back. It starts with "no trees were choped down to make this wine..." It turned out to also be fresh, lightly fruity, with the scents of pear and grapefruit.
So our results seemed to prove that maybe winemakers put some thought into the label, thinking about who the audience is that they would speak to and take into consideration the taste of wine and label drawing to a certain crowd.
Score one for the winemakers!
