"Call me.  Call me any day and any time.  Call me.  You can call me any day or night."   If you've got a problem, call me!  TALK TO ME.  We can't take care of the problem if you don't let me know about it.

Ignoring problems doesn't make them go away - especially in real estate.  Communication is so, so, so important.   If you are a real estate agent, and you are having problems on you end, make sure that I (the listing agent or buyer's agent) know about it as soon as possible.  I'll call my client and who ever else is appropriate and let them know about it.  We can work through the issues or at least prevent them from getting worse.  And, for those of you that are new agents...don't worry...problems come up.  It is part of the business.    CALL ME

People are remarkably understanding if they know that: a) there is a problem and b) what can be done, if anything, to address the problem.  It is never fun to be the bearer of bad news...but most problems can be worked through if all of the relevant parties are made aware of the problems in a timely and forthcoming manner.   CALL ME.

If you are my buyer or seller and you have concerns or problems, CALL ME.  I can't help you if you are not talking to me.

The same applies to family, friends and loved ones.... CALL ME.  Let me know what is going on, whether it is good or bad.  Communication is so important.  If something is bothering you, lets get it out in the open.   CALL ME.  TALK TO ME.

----------I'm thinking this might be a handy letter to give out to every one that I start working with...

The lyrics rom the first paragraph above and the the following video clip is Blondie - "Call Me."

You are so right - communication breakdowns only compound the issue!  The longer it festers in the minds of those who perceive the problem, the more gigantic the challenge can become - exponentially at times... and literally making a mountain out of a molehill!

Josue - Now you've got me worried..DISCLAIMER TO EVERYONE - if you are working with an agent already....CALL THEM. TALK TO THEM.   If my client's have problem's, I do have plenty of minutes.  If I go over, I go over.  Communication is so important.

I'm not sure why the Youtube clip isn't showing up for you.  I'll check on it.

Lynn, You state it so well, "The longer it festers....the more giganitc the challange can become..."

Sondra. You are so right. A lot of people will let everything go to voicemail. If you are one of the ones that answer the phone, you are one of the ones that are going to get more business. Thanks for the post, Royal..

Totally Agree !  We can't anticipate everything that can go wrong.  But if we know that a problem may exist then we can begin to address the issue(s) and hopefully still get a positive end result.

Communications is a powerful word. Some people will not communicate in hopes the situation may remedy itself; not so in most cases. What is a small problem to one person could possibly be huge to someone else. So for goodness sake communicate with all envolved that way there is no miscommunications.

Put it in writing with a brief follow up note.

Royal, thanks for stopping by.  What is even worse is people with voice mail boxes that are full and you can't even leave a message.

Property Connections - I agree with what you said.  It seems like I can think of more postive end results than negative ones when the communication channels are open.

Carl, I like your suggestion of the brief follow up note or email.

You and Blondie (is that Sondra on stage??) have the right message : ) I would add that the telephone is more powerful than email and cuts through faster, and secondly YOU be the initiator and call often. Sometimes the other side doesn't want to pick up the phone. GREAT MESSAGE. Nip all problems in the bud and build effective communication.

Gary, I agree with you all the way around.  This post was prompted by my needing to leave a message begging a new agent to return my calls requesting an update.  When the agent did, I was able to keep the problem from compounding.

If during an email volley when the conversation is too complicated, I will email a reply and simply say: "Please call me at 1-800-xxx-xxxx because I don't think my fingers can take it anymore and I am tired of typing this all out." I always get a call...
