Many of us who have been BLOGGING on AR for some time know have asked the others who are new to the world of BLOGGING on AR this question;

Are You Relevant?

One of the greatest things about Active Rain is the ability to put your thoughts and knowledge out there for the world to while learning more about your skill sets and abilities as a real estate, mortgage or title company professional

Last week during a class someone noted that my BLOGGING had put me atop our local site and had helped me with my Google ranking immensely. I noted to them that I posted relevant information about what I do in the world of real estate and I select the audiences to be the one that would be interested in this information.

Quickly I showed the class 3 Active Rain BLOGGERS who ranked high in Google but when you linked back to their BLOGS they were nothing about real estate, their market or their ability. If you want to social network recipes or good times at the beach there are sites for this information....If you feel that this will help you professionally then you are only fooling yourself. NO person looking for a professional real estate agent in this market is going to look at your web site or abilities based on a cookie recipe or a fun time at the opera. Again this is what pooped up on their site when you search their name in Google !!! All good people but all of their ability and professionalism went for naught when a consumer clicks on their name in Google for their city as a " Professional REALTOR" who must actually be an Opera critic or cookie wiz!

Keep You BLOG Relevant !!!

Post It To Sites In AR Where The Audience Want To Read The Info...

Have a great week............

Paul, good question.  I believe myself to be relavant to my market and my prospective clients.  Remaining relavant is the challenge.

Remember to check your self out on Google. Click on your AR link back and see what appears. If it is not about You as a professional and or Clarkesville real estate than the consumer will move on down the line.

Cookie recipes are awesome..I love cookies, but I do not want a professional baker to sell my house...

Have a great weekend

Paul

I have done a mix of subjects on my blog. The one which received the most comments on was about lockboxes vs. combo locks. I also like to post local events.  So my aim is to be relevent. Thanks for writing. Veronica

Paul, I agree with you 100 percent.  I don't think my client audience or realtor audience particularly care about my obsession with genealogy.  I want them to know that I care about the neighborhood and the larger community that I serve.  One of these days it will pay off.

Tim, no cookie recipes found on your site however; my BLOG post from today is not targeted at those who do AR correctly... but for thos who SPAMABLOG about info that has nothing to do about their real estate market or ability.

Sallie you hit the nail on the head...we all have our passions but for some reason on AR we have moved from a professional BLOG Sphere to a mixture of anything goes.

Google adjusts for those abnormalities. Content is king and google knows.

Paul - Good advice as usual. I hope that everyone here understands that the thing you write will last a lot longer than you think. i also hope some of the people in your class understand the value of blogging.

Good advice.  I'm trying to mix in a few personal things, but keep the majority of the content "on topic".  I'm trying to use this forum to highlight my expertise in LENDING, not blogging.  While I can blog as a creative outlet and have some fun to a degree, I know my purpose here is to educate memebers and browsing consumers about mortgage lending in the current marketplace.

Thanks for posting this.
