You know its coming. Sometimes at the end of August the signs are already there. Labour Day comes (yes I spelled Labour via the Queen's English today) and you can already feel the nip in the air in the morning. You know it might be a short fall. If we are lucky, we get an Indian Summer and it is nice past Halloween. But hey let's be honest. This is Canada. And if you are in Alberta, which is up at a higher elevation and closer to the Rockies. You know you can get a nice snow storm almost any month. I know I have seen snow in every single month of the year at one point in my life or another. There is a reason Canada used to be covered by a sheet of ice a mile thick. It can get cold up here.

How many times are the kids running around in Halloween constumes with winter gear on underneath? You know it is coming. Winter. You know it is really cold when you walk on the snow and it squeaks. Even the snow is in pain. No we don't plug in our cars because they are electric, we do it to keep them warm at night. Something most Americans have never heard of. But let's face it. It is time to get out of the snow drift and into the sun. You have worked hard for how many years now? How much longer do you want to see that -30 or -40 with windchilll across the weather man's screen at night?

It is time to get out of the snow drift. It is time to think about your retirement coming up in 1 day, 1 month, 1 year or 10, 15, even 20 years away. You don't need to shovel sunshine. It is time to throw the shovel away and get ready for the perfect storm.

The perfect storm has arrived early. No, not a snow storm. The perfect convergence of a high Canadian dollar, and low US sunbelt real estate prices. But you are a tad concerned. This is you know, that country you hear about in the local newspaper and on the TV with the high violent crime rates. And it concerns you. The laws are different. How will they treat me as a foreigner? How long can I stay? Who can I borrow money from? How should I hold my property? What are the tax, and estate consequences?

And a thousand other questions.

I just want to invest. Who do I use to manage my property? Who do I get to insure it? What security company should I have monitor my home? Who do I hire to file my US Tax return? Who do I trust......

These are questions I get every day. If you have any questions and want to buy property in Metro Phoenix, Arizona. Call me. I can help. I do it everyday. I am here to help you forget about your block heater, and to think about the heated pool.
