Here's an energy boost that is not only fun, and not only a chance to get to know each other better, but also looks to offer practical remedies from which we all can benefit.  This feature shines the light on useful value-added factors real estate professionals can add to their toolbox when involved in eco-friendly transactions.

A timely follow-up the the Green is Red Hot contest, it brings into focus the contribution of one of our AR members in terms of green awareness and how that relates to your real estate practice today and into the future. We hope  that it  will brighten our (already bright) AR community.

Congratulations Randy, you make me smile about the road trips on the mainland. My sister use to live in Hawaii. Pretty place to live, but road trips take you around and around!

Randy...When you opened your article with

In Hawaii every home falls under one of three categories.

  1. termiteThose with termites.
  2. Those that had termites.
  3. Those that will have termites.

I knew I was in for a great read...but I didn't realize I was also in for an eye-opening one...later on in your article, you mentioned that in the past people would, " pump Chlordane in the ground and hopefully poison the colony.  The problem is the poison, a carcinogen works its way to the water table and we wind up drinking it years down the road.

That got me thinking about toxic chemicals in the water table....and hoping you would do some research on that and let us know...

Dena - The bad thing is we drive around and around.  The good news is you do not need a map.  if you get lost keep driving you will get there eventually.

janeAnne - Thank you for honoring me by making me one of your picks.

We on Oahu are extremely sensitive to chemicals in the water. In the central part of the island we had pesticides getting into our water from the pineapple fields, while on the windward side of the island we had some of the best drinking water on the planet.  Hopefully with the strict changes made all of our wells will return to that pure and clean status.
