Cambridge MD AirportLandingIt could be one of those summer mornings in Baltimore that promises a hot day ahead. Or maybe it's just clear and not too windy. We don't need much of an excuse to head across the Chesapeake Bay for breakfast. If we drove, it could take a couple of hours, but we share twin engine freedom with some friends, so three of us climbed in and took off for a short hop to Kay's Country Kitchen in Cambridge, MD where we met two more friends who flew in from BWI.  As we approached, we had a good view of the airport area, followed by a smooth landing.

Cambridge AirportCambridge Airport CeilingDorchester County on Maryland's Eastern Shore is home to Cambridge Dorchester Regional Airport. The airport building is filled with light from all those windows, and the artist in me loved the angles in the ceiling. Like many small airports across the country, Cambridge Airport has a restaurant. Part of the fun of making day trips is discovering new places to eat where other pilots gather. In fact, the guys only fly to airports that have restaurants...and the food and the company are wonderful. Good service, very inexpensive and delicious, just like at Kay's. If you're traveling through Cambridge, you'll find it well worth a stop at 5263 Bucktown Road in Cambridge (410-901-8844).

Twin Engine FreedomWhat I like best is that a quick getaway like this is a perfect Type E vacation. Different scenery, different people, and in the company of friends – it's refreshment and relaxation packed into a short time. Perfect!

Here is another trip to Cambridge  Wheeee What Fun! THIS is Flying...the Rest is Just Transportation !

Margaret, you are such the adventurer with the private airplane experience, and thank you so much for sharing. I especially like the aerial photo of the runway. Very cool. Sure saves time with the drive on the ground. Ah, if we all could be pilots or have friends that were.

Gary, That aerial photo was taken from the back seat minutes before we landed at Martin's State Airport.

Hi Margaret - what a great way to have a little break that doesn't take as long as it might otherwise.  How neat to be able to do just what you did.

Margaret, not only do you have wheels on your feet(because you're always on the go), but wings as well! How fun it must be to get up and just fly away!

So, Margaret, are you a pilot too? Thinking about it?

What a neat way to go out for breakfast. I love the Chesapeake

When are you flying to Ocean City?  Just came back from Inman. It was fabulous. I do feel overwhelmed with info.  Also thought that I knew more about technology then what I obviously do.  I'll pick you up at Ocean City airport and we can lunch just minutes away at a great spot on the water.

Jeff, I have taken the Pinch Hitters and Right Seat Pilot courses but... no I am not a pilot. If you are thinking about flying, go take a lesson or two. Great fun, great group of people.

Monica, Will call before we come to Ocean City. Love the idea of having lunch with you. Here is a post from  Ocean City Of Lobster Claws and Cream of Crab Soup

Margaret, what a riot to be able to take day trips for a bite to eat, and how beautiful to soar like an eagle.

Duane, This bird makes a lot more noise than an eagle.
