Fort Myers" River District" Master Plan shows healthy Real Estate The vision of Fort Myers Downtown Distric Redevelopment started in the year 2000-2001 with the Genesis Group and DPZ which had a master Plan to transform the heart of Fort Myers and its 534 acres. The first plan started in 1986 and due a tremendous growth and economic health another vision was needed indeed. I recall very well the first time I drove downtown in the mid 1990's and saw the start of renovations block after block, building after buildings which is now into its phase II or called its Master Plan. Its no longer called downtown but the River District.I l will call it Downtown River District like many others..

What struck me most is the willingness to of the city to have both Public and private investment working hand in hand towards the beautifying of its downtown area and at the same time modernize dramatically the River Districtwith over 12 sky line developments, each state of the art buildings with views of the Caloosahatchee River and the city, open up its 38,000 SF commercial/residential developments at the Village with the construction (or 1st avenue Village) starting late 2007 which will mix condos in the low 200's to million dollar plus units with over 340 properties, add a Publix, thousands of commercial office and retail space and from what I have witnessed redo the water and sewer system of downtown, its pavement, each buildings block after block. Its is an incredible transformation and a welcomed one at that! And yes, investors, business people, homesteaders are coming and buying.
