Just when you the field of search engines had narrowed to Google, Yahoo, and MSN...their is a new addition today! It is called Cuil, and it is a new start-up venture from former engineers of Google that feel they can do a better job! The Cuil search engine launches today, and features a drill down search in a 2-3 column format! I read about the story this evening on Google's technology news in an online Wall Street Journal Story! For all of those that earn a livingas I have in Atlanta real estate via the Internet, this is always interesting news especailliay when the engineering talent is recognized! The article is very ineteresting, and I wonder what it will be like when Cuil is in a full shakedown run. The site was up and running sporadically this evening, and it is different for sure. I am sure more features wil be added as it goes along! Right now you can enjoy an ad free search!
Jim,
I guess it's alway nice to have another place for exposure...lets see how they go.
Janis Olson (RE/MAX At Barnegat Bay) Thanks! I am going to look in to it further also.
Jim & Maria Hart ~ Charleston, SC Real Estate (Agent Owned Realty) Well I remember when Google wasn't a big part of the scene either. Time will tell.
Susan Haughton Alexandria, VA REALTOR® (Long & Foster REALTORS® Old Town Alexandria) Well today is the first official day... so let's see what it turns into.
Darcy Rockwell- Mortgage Consultant (eMortgage LLC I'm sure since it is the first day they have to get the kinks out!
Neal Bloom-Realtor ® Assoc.-CRS-Weston FL (RE/MAX Premier Associates) Actually I think it is a good thing
I recall hearing about this on Buzz Out Loud's podcast recently...sure looks different.
Debbie Small, CRS, GRI (Long & Foster Realtors It is interesting. I'll stick with Google!
Jim I just tried searching Lansing Mi real estate and not one thing came up that was real estate in lansing. It's new I hop it gets better
Jim:
I ran it a bit and it is a little mix up. It is scooping info from mixed crawls and for instants on my search for my site newhomebyrichard. Some lady's picture come up instead of me and if you click her you get my activerain blog page. Their document integrity is weak.
It also mix another agent in on my site. I think it is doing screen capture not crawling the web and indexing from the site files.
Richard
Jeff Thornton ABR CRB CRS CSP e-Pro GRI It is their first day. I ran a few searches for "Atlanta homes for sale" and came up with several matches.
Richard Stabile Bergen County New Homes Builder Realtor (REMAX real estate associates) I do not know what the graphics are...they seem totally unrelated.
I played with this earlier today and it does still have a lot of glitches. One thing that I found especially odd was that when I added KY to any city in my area, the searches came back with no matches. It will be interesting to see how people warm up to Cuil.
Erik Hitzelberger, --Louisville-Bullitt County Real Estate (RE/MAX Alliance) So far, it does not impress me.
Hi Jim! Thanks for the heads up. I like the format, however I don't get the link placement I receive on Google and someone else's picture shows up for my links. Looks like they still have some glitches to work out!
Michelle Miller, ABR®, REALTOR® (RE/MAX Town & Country) I agree, and it is only day 2 for them. I looked at it again last night, and there were a few changes.
Jim: I love cuil and would love to invest in them now before they take off.
Steve Harless (REALTY WORLD LUXURY HOMES -702.217.1680) I don't know if they are even publically traded right now...are they?
Jim ~ I read about this at another forum. I can't say that I was overly impressed with Cuil, but thanks for sharing this with the group on AR.
Ryan Martin - Bellingham Real Estate Agent (Windermere Real Estate / Whatcom Inc.) Neither was I. I may revisit in a few months.
