The Jackson public school board will select one of three finalists after each one participates in group forums with the public, parents and students. The finalists are Dr. Delores Hopkins, Dr. Harvey Franklin Sr. and Dr. Lonnie Edwards. The forums are scheduled for August 6th and 7th.
Jackson , Mississippi has the largest school system in the state, so the next superintendent will have big shoes to fill. There are forty elementary schools, eleven middle schools, and nine high schools. The district is very dedicated to making sure every student graduates and goes to college. The private school system offers over 30 great private schools to choose from. Jackson is also home to several colleges that include Mississippi College School of Law, Mississippi College, University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Belhaven College , Jackson State University , Millsaps College and Health Science and Dental Schools .
