Salmon Falls River/Rollinsford                   Come Enjoy Rollinsford NH

Originally settled around 1630, Rollinsford NH was first a part of Dover NH .The town was originally called SLIGO, this name still remains on a road in town.  Next, it was established a parish in 1729 and called SUMMERSWORTH because ministers preached here in the summers.  Next it would be incorporated as a town by Govenor Benning Wentworth , later called Somersworth due to a clerical error.  It was later named  Rollinsford after a local prominent business man EDWARD H. ROLLINS.

One of the great features of the town is the Colonel Paul Wentworth House, one of the oldest surviving dwellings constructed in New Hampshire.  In 1936 the home was relocated to Dover, Mass., until 2001 when it was dismantled and brought back to it's home town.                                                                                                       Wentworth home

Rollinsford is called a "border town".  Sitting along the Salmon Falls river, the town borders, Dover NH, Somersworth NH, and South Berwick Maine.  It's historic 1820's mill buildings show it's rich history and craftsmanship.  Now, due to it's setting, and large expansive spaces, the mills house low-cost studio space for over 100 artisans.  The studios are used for painting, sculptings, and crafting hand made furniture.

I welcome you to come and visit some day.  A short drive, just 1 hour north of Boston Mass. and similarly 1 hour south of Portland Maine.  Rollinsford is a wonderful place to visit.  Take a walk along the water front.  Visit some of the local artists in the Mills.  Take a tour of the historic homes.  I guarantee you will enjoy and want to come back again!
