11 Comments on Asheville Eco Communities: Drovers Road Preserve
janeAnne-Are these communities just selling lots or are they working with green builders who are selling home and lot packages? Are there CCRs that mandate green building practices? I am impressed by some of the engineering efforts like the wetland.
Hi Pete~
Both communities, Hickory Nut Forest and Drovers Road Preserve, are selling lots AND have homes either finished, in progress or about to begin. ..and yes...there are CC&Rs...
Very cool... Thanks for the quick response janeAnne
WOW, thank you janeAnne for posting such a wonderful article. I really feel moved by it and it's good to see there are TRUE preserves in Asheville, mindul ones...the ones with such a wonderful and skilled team behind them. Good idea to include the site map photo as well-thanks!
Rhodes~
I appreciated your description of this (and actually a number of other eco-communities in the Asheville area) as "mindful"...It seems that taking the time to create thoughtful eco design and development elements really pays off...for all concerned.
Mark~
'Preciate the kind words.
It's just that I love the idea of stewardship. When it is applied, at many levels, it seems to bring out the best in everyone. Eco design and development sure does this. My clients who invest in land and build their GREEN homes in eco communities seem to smile a lot!
janeAnne,
Yes, I've found the word "mindful" to be a really great way of seeing what's true green, and what's not...and you're right, there is a lot of TRUE GREEN here in Asheville. I've found that being mindful always pays off -- it may take more time initially, but saves SO much in return. Perhaps I'll write an article on this subject, thanks for the inspiration :-)
Hi janeAnne, Wow. Are you guys going to be doing a photo tour around there soon? :) I'd like to see the rain gardens...would love to see them down here too, since we get a lot of rain. LOL.
What do the lots sell for?
Stephanie~
We are showing Drovers Road to clients today. Wil try to remember to get photos for you!
janeAnne -- what an amazing place. I am really jealous. We just don't have anything like this in New Hampshire. Can't wait to read more.
