Active Rain has Changed (I think?)

Some changes I noticed today, or is it just me? Did I miss something or a post explaining the new change?

Either way, I love the comments part where I don't have to type that dreaded password in after each comment. If they only knew how much more time that took for a one finger typist, LOL. Thank you, if this is the newest change.

The other change I noticed is when I post a Blog, the Groups are all condensed into one category, very clean.

Nice changes Active Rain! They are changes, right?

Change I noticed when submitting a post. The Groups and Channels are now all condensed with the number of Groups we are members of, a bit confusing at first, but cleaner looking.

I noticed that change too, but it just happened during the day, because those funky words were still needed when I first logged on this morning. I like the "freedom" of not having to type those words. However, my browser had many of them in memory, so I only had to type a few letters usually.

Matt, hmm, my browser never learned them and had to type each word in, of course I would get the long words, miss a letter and have to retype another, argh. Glad to hear, this is so much easier, nice change.

Duane, Hopefully these changes are permanent. What are Activerain channels? I have not seen that yet?

Duane- I use Mozilla Firefox...I'm no techie, I only use is because Brad Andersohn suggested I try it out.

hmmmmmm.... looks very interesting. I think I like it- especially since I'm terrible at the security word.

I'm new and was worried because the passwords were not there. I have been checking to see if my comment was posted or not and they were. It is a good change because I type slow also. Thanks Brenda :)

Hey Duane.....I am loving that we don't have to put those funky words into boxes before we can comment! But it could all change tomorrow!

I noticed the changes today... yes NICE not to type that password! Getting better and better, AR. I've been here almost one year now. I love it. But is it me or sometimes it appears and other times not. Not sure what's going on.

Duane, I noticed the change too! I read about some of them, but did not realize there were so many done! I think we should start a campaign to bring back the captcha. I kind of miss that little guy before I can post a comment. lilly-pilly (in honor of the captcha)

Duane, I noticed some of the verification words are gone on posts but not all....and I haven't posted yet so are my groups missing? Can I still choose 5 groups?

Hi Duane, Thank You for your tips. I have been so consumed with my doctoral research project proposal that I've been out of touch with my therapeutic healing community in AR! I will have my research oroject and dissertation done next spring and get back into The Rain! This project is like having a six month old baby. It requires tons of attention. Anyway, I will probably convert my dissertation into a book to encourage members of AR and everyone else!

Yeah, I noticed the change, but not on all blogs I comment on. Sometimes I still am asked to type in the password. With the new format comes a couple of other questions. ActiveRain Channels (11) - Are we are only allowed to select one of these? Also, where does our blog go if we select one of these channels, for example - Tips and Advice For real estate professionals? (Who gets my blog?) ActiveRain Groups - These are the groups that I have joined? I can only select 5 maximum to send my blog to? Outside Blog - Where does my blog go when I select this? Can you tell I'm new? I would appreciate someone contacting me with answers to this. I want to make sure my blogs are getting to the right people/market.

Duane! I was going to post a blog about the very same thing. Not typing the word (where did they get some of those anyway) is soooo awesome! !! Hey, you are not going to believe it, I just went to send this and the "word box" is there! No joke! All the options are gone too. I couldn't bold or add a cute photo!

Duane - This is a welcome change and I suspect we will be seeing many more.

Hmmm...still seeing the password below. Yeah, I just used a one finger typing in the word "galangale" to submit the comment. ;)

Yup! Thing are a changing... Hopefully for the better. Ever since the latest and greatest update yesterday about 0215, the graphics input box has been erratic... So has the text box...

Some of those words were like... huh? I am glad they are gone.

I kept getting error pages yesterday. I wonder if this was why? Maybe they were completing the upgrade.

Morning Duane, I hear that and love the absence as well. I hope it is a fact and not a glitch. Will have to wait and see.

Duane- The verification words seem to be back...perhaps it was just a glitch. "Sheepberry".... where do they come up with these words?!

Matt, interesting on Firefox, hopefully with the change I won't have to worry about that from here on, thanks for the idea.

Renae,hhmmm, maybe you have been a naughty girl this year and you are being penalized, or maybe they know you aren't a one finger typist and can shoot through the password quickly, LOL. Is it still showing on yours? Usually I get one type box in the beginning, then none from there on, love it!

Glad you like what we're doing to the place! You will have to use the security word at least one time when you login, but after that, the system knows it's you and will no longer require "The Fruits" lol~ This will only be applied each time you logout and log back in to AR :-))

"Duane", Yeah, no more password..but where did the spell check, bold, etc go? I thought maybe I wasn't logged in. Ok "Brad", I am never logging out. Since I can't bold your names, I will just put them in quotes..but I do miss that feature.

Steve, this is a great change, make it much easier to comment and move along without typing in those words each time.

Stephen, LOL, they did have some interesting ones that made me grin, but not gonna miss em. We still get 1 fix a day when we leave our first comment, that's good enough for me.

Carole, the Groups did remain, and it appears that its just the first comment that we need to insert of the word, then from there on they should be gone until the next time we log in.

Dan, I can only imagine, we'll hold the fort down for the next 6 months.

Stan, I have the one finger on each hand busy at it, grin.

Troy, good questions, but ones I'm unsure of. I'll contact Brad and see if he can enlighten you all of us.

Cristal, GMTA. I have been seeing that the Bold, Spell Check, Etc tool bar doesn't show either. I have been going back to the comment after I submit it and choose Edit, then high light the name and do spell check as I will with this one because it's not there again.

Very strange, on every other post this morning, the tool bar is available, but not on your post Duane. Way to go! You broke ActiveRain. lol~ Seriously though, not sure why it's not available on your post here. I'll send a link to the AR support team and have them look into it.

Duane - I think it's the post. I just checked it out and your table and html format looks like it could be causing this. Try and do a screen capture instead of the format you are using right now, I'll bet you one of my Localism Neighborhoods that this will fix it! :-))

You'll notice the toolbar in your post is functional and "Live" which it should not be. The system may only be seeing the toolbar in your post and not allowing it to display where it should be.

Brad, LOL, I would continue to go back and forth to edit, mucho better, thanks for the help (again)...

Troy - the channels are just categories to help those searching by channels, The groups are only those you have joined, your post will be placed in them (max 5) and the outside Blog is your AR subdomain unless you have your own domain name, then the Blog is pushed to that outside domain. Michael, looks like its getting better today. Part of the problem on this post was the insert I did was drawing the bold away as Brad pointed out. I re-did the post and now it seems to be working fine.

Kevin, always wondered where they came up with the words too. I had suggested at one time selling advertising as the security word, so if you would have purchased a month ad, I would have been entering H.I.S. Home Inspection as a security word. Brilliant eh? LOL

Kevin, I'll bet it was, seems to be working fine today.

Matt, Sheepberry, LOL, not sure but they do have a sense of humor on some of them. Sounds like it's just the first time we comment that we have to type in the word, from then on no more words until we re-log back in.

Duane, Gary, true of all posts, not just members only. If spam finds a way in, we'll have to go back to password protection. :-)

Noticed a few days ago and liking it...now if we could get right of that copywrite warning.

I noticed the new password thing midstream. My first 6 comments I had to put in the password then all of a sudden it wasn't there for number seven. I even refreshed the post, then went back a page and then forward again to see if it would show up again.

I like the changes!

Jeff, nice change to the system, isn't it. I thought the same thing when the type box didn't appear. Even typed a word in thinking there may have been a blip in loading and clicked submit, hmmm, went through. But the very next comment I left same result so I just clicked submit, bingo it went through. Then that happened on the remainder of them, yeehaa I thought.

I heard you met with Clarence, he was excited that you would take the time to do so, thank you. I have been over to tour his homes a few times. We shared plans when I was in the business. He does nice work.

Mary, it looks like our first (and some times the second) comments require the password, this allows the system to know were human (per Brad). Love the change though....

Duane - You must type like my husband...It takes forever. I'm usually his secretary and type it for him while he dictates. :)
