Sun over waterI hate to even talk about this Texas heat because it makes it all too real.  Triple digit heat has plagued us for quite awhile now.  This may easily be the hottest year on record for quite some time.  I heard something today though that made me feel I had to write.

In this heat it is imperative we remember how much hotter it is in a vehicle.  Another horrible story was covered on my local news about a family in Aubrey, TX (not far from McKinney) who mom thought dad had removed the baby from the car and dad thought mom had... the baby was in the car under an hour and, sadly, was found deceased.

You see, if it is 100 degrees outside, within 15 minutes, a closed up car will reaching a scorching 140 degrees!  Today DFW saw 105 degrees.  Another miserable reminder that pets and children should NEVER be left in a car.  NEVER. Sun

Put children and pets first.  Always look before locking.

God be with this poor family.  Their grief must be overwhelming.

Sara- Thank you for the reminder- This is such a sad story. We heard the same kind of story here recently the Mother forgot to drop the baby off at daycare and went into work leaving the baby in the hot car- The baby was found dead. You are right the grief must be unbearable.

Barbara:  Thank you for commenting.  It is easy to point fingers when these things happen but in this busy world, sometimes accidents happen.  If we ALL get in a habit of double checking these tragedies can be prevented.  Again, thanks for commenting.

Sara~ I remember the Texas heat all too well, there;s nothing like being in Plano TX, 7 months pregnant in 110 degrees heat.  I hate when I hear, but it's a dry heat!!

I have thought off and on about this family today and I cannot imagine their grief and guilt. It really could happen to anyone with all that we have on our minds. This was not the only family this month and there are countless others. Taking necessary precautions to remind ourselves of our dear ones, children and pets in the back is so needed. Thank you for posting Sara.

You bet Chris.  Thanks for commenting!

Lisayou must have been miserable!  Dry heat is only an excuse until maybe the mid 90's!  Anything after 95 is just HOT!!

Oh Karen, you are such a doll.  My heat breaks for these families because I myself have been cooking dinner and left the oven on... only realizing it when it beeps at me 30 minutes later.  So, if I can forget when I am looking at a red button... imagine a sleeping baby.  It can happen to anyone.  Thanks for reading my posts.

What a horrible thing to happen.  This is an all too real reminder to be extra careful of anyone (human or animal) who is in the car.

This is a sad story. We should lobby car manufacturers to help prevent this. If a car can tell whether or not the passenger airbag should be on surely there is a way of alerting a parent that child is still in the car when they leave.

So very sad.  We don't hear very many stories like this here, even though the temps do get pretty high.  It is such a tragedy!

Jennifer:  You are so right.  What a tragic way to be reminded.

Sue:  That is brilliant!  You really should pursue that!  You could be famous and think of the lives you could save... truly brilliant idea.

Jim and Maria:  Count your blessings!  Here in Texas, we here this all to often.

Thanks for commenting.

How horrible.  It is always sad to hear stories like this, but it does remind us how careful we should all be.

What a tragic story. How do you recover from this?  It is so easy to get distracted and any change in your schedule could cause a devestating loss.  Pray it never happens to us.  Pray for peace and comfort for this family.
