Here are the basics, but please visit the link above, as it includes a stronger level of detail about the event:

DATE: August 16th, 2008

TIME: Starts at 2pm - Jason reserved the room until 7pm officially, but there is live music from 6-9pm, so people are welcome to hang out and enjoy that, too, even after the official part ends. I plan to be there for the entirety.

COST: As Jason's guest, you will only be responsible for any alcoholic beverages. Jason is covering the location and food cost himself. Any damage caused from overdrinking will be deducted from your points!

LOCATION: County Line on the Lake, 5204 FM 2222, Austin, TX 78731Beautiful Austin Texas bordering the Hill Country and only a few hours away from you!

FOOD: Awesome BBQ. There will be all-you-can-eat lean brisket, turkey, and sausage with all of the usual sides (potato salad, beans, slaw). We might decide to have some people bring dessert if that is allowed there. Happy Birthday Jason!

Why?

We are celebrating Jason Crouch's birthday (August 17^th)

But, on Saturday the 16th and it gives us a darned great reason to get together, say "WE LOVE YOU, JASON" and Party Hardy!

(okay, within reason)

Bring the kids! This is a child friendly party.

Gag gifts are good....we don't want to spoil him too much!

Deb - Thanks so much for writing this post in support of the upcoming party. I think we will have a great turnout. So far, about 30-35 people are committed to attend.

Deb, if I can make it I'll let Jason know. It sounds like a great event to meet many of our Texas Active Rainers....

Nice post. I think that Gag gifts can be a lot of fun for both giver and receiver. They are an excellent idea for making a home or office festive party that much funnier. Laughter that they generate is always a great return gift without you asking for it. But remember that gag gifts are more for fun and the receiver should be light-hearted enough in realizing their playful tone. Check out http://blog.giftex.in/ for interesting gifting ideas and tips.

Hmm. Austin is over 1300 miles from my home. Maybe if I was 17 again! :) I do like the gag gift suggestion. I'll have to do some thinking on that.

It sounds like fun, especially the idea that points get deducted for outrageous drunken behaviour LOL! Unfortunately a bit too far for little old me, but have a super time :-D

Thanks for the compliment. That's going to be hard to live up to! My name is Bruce. I'm a man of few words. I love to drive, but 1300 miles is a stretch. We live in Orange County, CA which is the home of Disneyland, some great beaches, and 12 Chipotle restaurants. :) Some people call it The OC. I promise I will register here at Active Rain, when I get it figured out. As I told Mirela, I'm a sloooooow learner! By the way, I admire anyone who can combine humor and production in this wild and wacky business. I can't make your birthday party, this year, but I will be there with you in spirit.

Sure wish I could make it, I'd love to be the one to pop out of the cake and surprise the crap out of Jason. You have to admit, that'd be quite a surprise. Give him a birthday hug from me and a kiss from you. :-))

So... who will be singing the breathy rendition of "happy birthday mr. preh-zi-dent"? It sounds like great fun. I would but, well, I don't know if I could quite live up to billing. :-)

well, it would help it I could read English I suppose, huh? If all goes well the boss and I will be in Anchorage with some friends. I just ready Jason's post office moving party ideas and if even one or two get implemented, it will be one heck of a bash!
