I read today, that the South LA City Council has imposed a one year moratorium on fast food establishments because of the high obesity rates. While their intentions are unarguably good, is this the way to go about accomplishing this goal? Should other areas think about similar laws? The council wants to attrack 'healthier food' restaurants. Is this really attainable? Another aspect to consider, is the area is considered a poor area, which certainly effects what they can afford. Wouldn't 'healthier food' restaurants cost more, and not get enough business? I'm curious what everyone here thinks about the good and the bad of what they are trying to accomplish, and whether it will really work in the long run. Personally I think it is a great idea, but I just do not see it being feasible in the long run. I hope it works though!
