SureClose Helpful Hint for Today (Re-templating)

By

The ability to re-template a file is a great feature.  If you open a file withing SureClose and later realize that you have created it using an incorrect template, you can re-template your existing file with the correct template without having to delete your file and start over.  Keep in mind that re-templating is like wiping the slate clean and starting over, so any stored information in the section of your file that you decide to re-template will be lost.

Here are a few important specifics to be aware of when re-templating:

  • If you choose to re-template your document page, any documents that you may have filed already will be deleted.  It would be a good idea to forward those documents to your SureClose inbox before re-templating so that you can re-file them on your newly re-templated document page.
  • If you choose to re-template your tasks page, any tasks that you added to your file, edited due dates on, added notes to, or completed will be deleted and your task list will only match the list from the new template.
  • It is always best practice to re-template both your tasks page and documents page at the same time.  IF you only choose to re-template one or the other please BE AWARE that any links that you have between documents and tasks will be broken.  These links are created on the template level and carry across to both the tasks page and the documents page.  So, if you re-template one of those pages, you are essentially re-creating it; thereby, breaking the existing links from the original template.

If you are currently using SureClose, please be sure to check out the SureClose Users Group on Active Rain.  If you are interested in implementing SureClose as your transaction management system or would like more information, please feel free to contact me.  I hope this helps!

You are most welcome.  I know you are a long time user of SureClose.  If you ever come across a question or item that you think would make a good "helpful hint", please feel free to let me know.  I'll be happy to write it up and post it.
