Lighthouse BuildersIt's been a few weeks since my post about building a quality home. The reason for the delay was the windows. Our window supplier didn't place the order when he should have, an we were delayed by 2 weeks. The windows are going in now, and the brick work is following right behind.

If you want to see progress from the beginning.

We are waiting on the codes inspector to give us the ok before installing insulation and sheetrock.  I would like to point out a few important items that are common to Lighthouse builders, but not everyone.

2x12 support beams for the bonus room

  • 2x12 supports for the floor in the bonus room above the garage on 12 inch centers. What does that mean? It means you don't have to worry about the amount of weight the bonus room can hold.

electrical wiresElectrical work for the home, neat and documented.

Dupont house wrap

The houses are wrapped with DuPontTM Tyvek® weather barrier, to help insulate the home.

I'll be back in a week with more.

Larry, Interesting to see that this is a traditional 'stick' built house instead of one built with engineered lumber... Cool..

Michael - Engineered lumber saves money, but guys at Lighthouse Builders believe in building a better house. We suspect that engineered lumber is not as stong as wood from a tree. After seeing how easy it is to cut or drill though engineered lumber, I started checking under my own house to make sure it was safe.
