Shamous and his family purchased their first home right before Thanksgiving 2007.  This close-knit, loving family of four wanted to stay in Cranston, RI so the kids could continue to attend the same school system.  Shamous works from home, so it was important to him to find a house with space for an office, as well as bedrooms for each of the kids and a good-sized yard with a garage.

How long did it take to find your home?

We were looking for 2+ years... but it only took around 6 months once we signed on with you!

Approximately how many houses did you look at?

30+

Were you willing to make adjustments to your "wish list"?

At first I thought there were things that I really wanted but we could live without... garage, double wide driveway, etc.

Are you happy with your decision to utilize the assistance of a Realtor?

Happy is not a strong enough word! We would have never found our home if it wasn't for you. Having a Realtor changes your strategy when it comes to looking for a home. You found our home with ALL we wanted plus more before it went on the market!

Did you find your Realtor easily accessible?

Very

Would you refer your Realtor to others?

Always do... there is no better way to find the house of your dreams!

What advice would you give to other first time homebuyers?

Talk to a Realtor, be patient, don't settle... you'll have that feeling when you walk into your future home

Shamous, it's been several months now since you moved in.  What do you find to be the biggest difference between renting and owning?

We have a proud feeling of ownership that is tough to explain. You make all the decisions pertaining to your house and property. No one to tell you what you can or can not do.

Shamous, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions and to help other first time home buyers make some decisions and learn a bit about the process and the benefits of working with a Realtor.

If you are a first time home buyer in Rhode Island, you may have other questions that are not addressed here.  I'd be happy to answer any that you may have.  Let's find the home of YOUR dreams!
