Oregon Association of Realtors Focus Group

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Real Estate Consultant

On July 30, 2008 Andrea Bushnell,CEO and General Counsel for the Oregon Association of Realtors came to Brookings, Oregon and held a focus group meeting for any members who wanted to attend. The purpose of the meeting was to share ideas on how the Association could better serve it's members and to discuss current services offered and benefits of the Association.

As I understand, Andrea has been visiting many boards around the state holding the same type of meetings.  Once the meetings are completed a group will get together and look at all the information and ideas gathered. Then over the next 2 years, they will try to implement as many of the ideas as the budget will allow.

Andrea told us one of the newest tools available to the members will be a Risk Management Toolkit located on OAR's website. It will be installed in August 2008 and completed by the end of the year. She explained that it was going to be very extensive. This will be a wonderful asset to OAR's website.

Andrea also spoke about how our $100 special assessment fee was used for a public awareness campaign this year. Television advertising, printed materials and radio spots were the media used to let the public know how important it is for consumers to use a professional Realtor. And there is also a public website sponsored by OAR that I didn't know about..... www.oregonrealtorvision.org  Check it out when you get a chance!

It is great that your association is so pro-active.  I think it is great to be involved in your local and state association.

All the best!

I wondered where I $100 went, no one was able to answer that for me. The sad part is how much I listen to talk radio and never heard one of these commercials. I can't wait to see what they have to offer us on their site and look forward to the improvements.

Kevin- It is important to be involved especially where it can make a difference. I didn't really want to go to the meeting but afterwards was glad I did.

Todd- Did you ever see any television ads? I had seen a couple. I don't listen to radio and Andrea commented the the printed would be in local papers and forthcoming...like Sept. I am not sure how they spread the love. Maybe in your area they only used TV? Also, she said we would not be hit this year with another $100 assessment fee. I guess they decided to give us a break this year!
