I just checked  this will be my 300th post!  Hard to believe that July 4th  I wrote my very first post

Back then that very first post I wrote here at Active Rain took me hours to compile, this post 20 minutes of my time, I just finished touching it up before posting!  I freaked out at the prospect of writing one post a week -- how did I get to averaging 1 a day?

I cannot believe how far my own writing has come.  And that is just one of the many benefits I have gotten from my membership here at Active Rain.  It seems the secret to my success -- practice and great coaches!

There have been many wonderful members who reached out their hands and helped me when I was just beginning and really struggling to write at all.  Their encouragement and willingness to assist me is what helped me overcome the fear and learning curve.  So I have done the same to other members here at Active Rain.

As a Moderator here at Active Rain, I read a lot of posts.  And there are a lot of budding superstars out there.  There are already lots of posts of how to write, that is not what this post is about...

Most recently I have been finding newer members that are struggling with their posts here at Active Rain and I would like to use this post as a way to thank them for taking time and letting me help them with writing here at Active Rain.  This is my way of paying it forward, by coaching a few members...

  • First off Brad Andersohn of Vallejo, California allowed me to coach him through the process of editing a WALL OF WORDS into something a little more readable.  We spent a couple of hours on Sunday going back and forth as I would coach him through the process of editing a good set of bones.  He even was a good sport about leaving the original post along with the Reworked Post so I could share with other writers an example of Before and After.
  • The Second person I want to put a spotlight on is Midori Miller of Daytona Beach, Florida who yesterday took my call wanting to help her with her International Post.  I was half way through coaching her through editing her post before I realized I didn't have her save the first version.  Again it was a matter of someone having a lot of good information, it just needed to be edited a bit and made easier for the reader.
  • Lastly, I want to thank Judi Barrett of Idabel, Oklahoma and her willingness to allow me to pick apart her Jinxed Commercial Property post.  We spent a lot of time reworking and picking just the right graphic for her post.  She took the time to make my suggested changes and it was great to get to know her as we worked on this.

You see probably one of the most rewarding things about being a member at Active Rain is the sense of community and how we all seem to help each other out.  I got a lot out of my tutoring sessions in the past week.  Each of these members I mentioned above are paying it forward.  Last night the joy I heard from Midori as her post came alive was priceless!

If I happen to call you, it is me paying it forward to those wonderful members who helped me when I started here and those that continue to help me in my education.  All I ask is that you turn around and find a new member and help them along the way.  If you get a call from Midori, Brad or Judi to help you I want to know!

Judi, Midoir & Brad I dedicate my 300th post to you!  I look forward to seeing lots more from you all here at Active Rain!

Colleen, Congratulations on your 300th Post!  That's enough writing to create a book!  It's amazing how it happens.  I can certainly relate to your comment on how daunting creating original articles was initially.  Thanks for making so many positive contributions to the Active Rain Community.  We look forward to the Next 300! :)

Colleen-You are really something else.  Thank you for the time and effort you put into making my post more attractive.  Those phone calls made a difference in how I look at the network and made me take a hard look at my blogging.  I don't know that I felt like a good sport, it is more along the lines of feeling Lucky and blessed that someone I did not know took the time to help me.  You can bet I will continue to write and I am positive with much better results.  It's the little details that matter.  Congrats on 300 posts that is definitely a milestone and thanks so much for the dedication!!!  And just so you know I will pay it forward to my WOW team 4 out of 5 are on the network and someone I do not know.

Colleen congrats on 300!! That is truly a big acomplishment. I have watched you and your writing grow over the last 9 months and it really has been something to see. Keep it up.

On another note: Did you know Sharon Simms hit 500 a few days ago? I sure wish someone would go back and feature her post. It kind of slipped through the cracks.

Congratulation!!  300 posts is a ton of typing.  I just passed number 150 and thought I climbed a mountain.  I may have to type with more than 2 fingers to reach the bar set by you.

Colleen,

Congrats on your 300th post!  You are an inspiration to me as a newbie...  I still have a few questions and you can answer them in post 301.

  • question 1  Where do you find the graphics that you post?
  • question 2  I spend most of the time in the shower trying to think of something good to post about- how do you determine what to post about?
  • question 3  How much time a day do spend on AR?

Thank you looking forward to 301!

Bryant & Scott -- Thanks for pointing out the missed post!   We all have been so busy and trying to keep up with all the posts that are happening here at Active Rain.   I have been very busy with other things that my time featuring has fallen off.   I had a nice conversation with Sharon this afternoon and she understood how things can happen...

Laurie --- Thanks for the gold star!

Jeff T -- I am...

Lisa & Robert -- Thanks for the fireworks!

Jeff D -- Thanks!  It really is special to see those that I have helped improve.  I am so happy for them...

Shanna -- no need to go to post 301...

  1.  Microsoft Clipart
  2. I have a notebook sitting next to my computer and a page in my day planner.  As I have ideas I write them down.  When I have time I go into Google Docs and start writing on all of the topics.  When one finishes it is then posted...   Right now there is over 200 in process some just a title, others more developed.
  3. My time on AR varies.  Depends on the day and how I feel and what I have scheduled.  My time is getting less and less as I become more busy....

Kelly -- Wow Queen...

Randy -- I look forward to you catch up with me.

Cynthia -- not brain dead yet... There are days that my fingers are not too happy with me...

WOW... that is GREAT! And I thought I was a blog-a-holic.

Ok.. a few questions...

1) Which post are you most proud of?

2) Which was the most UNDERRATED and UN-NOTICED?

3) Which was EFFORTLESS to write?

4) Which took the MOST TIME to write?

Colleen,Not only 300 posts but 300 good posts jammed packed with information to make Active Rain and the individual members better.

I was hoping you would hit 12345 for your score but you have already passed it.

Amazing, a post a day. Now if you could  list or sell a house a day, that would be an accomplishment!   What is your next goal?

Congratulations to both you and Sharon!!
