My competitor in this market is over 10,000 points away from 100,000 points.   I am the only one in my market with over 100,000 points.  According to Bob Stewart's blog, first dibs on Localism go to the veteran Rainers.  Those with 200,000+ points get first dibs (that would be 12pm Pacific time, so 3pm our time, on August 7th (there are no 200,000 pointers in my market), 100,000+ pointers are allowed Localism gravy at 12:15 (that would be Yours Truly), while those with 50,000+ points could get in the game a full 15 minutes later.

What does all of this mean?  It means that I will be able to secure the Localism market for my area, unless my competitor figures out a way to garner over 10,000 points in seven days.

Is that even possible?  Please advise!  I WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP ON THIS ONE!!!

I don't mind sharing the spotlight with Jeremy.  He is a bright, young man I have high regard for.  I am not clear on whether that's even possible.  Do we have only one expert spot per Localism turf?

2:02am • #1

10K in only 7 days!  I am sure it could happen but I would have to imagine they would have to write close to 50 blogs which breaks down to 7 blog posts a day.  Thats alot of writing.  I think you are pretty safe :)

Mirela - Based on how ARs point structure is set, I do not believe they can get 10, 000 points in a week.  I think you can only post a blog up to 10 times in a week (that is 2000 points) and only get points for 10 comments per day (250 per day x 7 days = 1750 points)... a total of 3750 points in a week.  The only thing I can not calculate is points they get from 'added members' or AR links to outside websites.  Even if they were SUPER aggressive, I do not see them getting an addition 10,000 points during that time.  Good luck!

You can write 10 blogs per week at 200 points - that is what 2,000. Then you can comment 10 times for 25 each for a total of 250 pts per day times 7 would equal 1750 - so that is 3,750 pts and that doesn't count the comment points you receive - I am saying - No a person couldn't really get 10,000 in a week.

By the way, the 10 posts per week is an AR rule so that people do not rank up a ton of 'nonsense' points in a short period of time.  Members are free to post more than 10, but will only get points for the first 10.

Tony:There is a cap on blogging (I found that out the hard way).  After 10 blogs per week (Sunday to Saturday), you get no more points for any of the blogs submitted that week.  So, no, he couldn't get it through blogging.  The maximum he could garner would be 200 X 10 = 2,000.  He would get extra points for lots of reader comments, but not enough to even come close.

Wow!  You guys type so much faster!

2:11am • #7

I am by no means an expert, but I would say that it is not possible without extra points awarded by the gurus at AR themselves. Since you only get credit for 10 posts per week (2000 points plus points for the comments others make) and earn 25 points for each comment made but can only earn points on the first 10 daily (which is 250 per day). That would be a max of 1750 for commenting in that 7 day period and possibly 4000 points for blogging plus the points for the number of comments made to each post. I can't see getting 3500 points for comments made. Each of the person's postings would have to be featured and get a lot of traffic.

I think that you are safe, but don't know for sure as Jeremy does have pretty good posts. The question is, does he have the time? :)  Good luck!

He has friends in high AR places:  Brad Andersohn (he helps Brad on different projects), Jason Crouch, and other significant AR brass....  I guess you could call them AR Gods...  wouldn't be fair game though, would it?  AR plays fair, doesn't it?  At least that's what I've noticed here.

Libby:  Jeremy DOES have good posts.   The question is:  can he squeeze out the points in the very limited 7 days?

Even with bonus points for features, with comments and blogging, the competition can't possibly get more than 10K points in one week.  When you consider extra points for comments they receive on their posts, and bonus points for invited members and such, I'm sure it is possible.  Perhaps a one in a million chance though.  They'd have to be super good at blogging and really dedicated and aggressive.  And the AR gods (of which there are only a few, Rich and Brad being two of them) as well as the veteran AR members, do play fair from what I have seen!

By the way, after the Washingto Localism Sponsorships were opened up today, don't assume you ahave the allotted time to get your neighborhoods!   In WA, they opened it to all members regardless of points, so be ready to go!  I just wrote a post on my experience today with localism, feel free.  Good luck!

Well here, you'll get some extra points!! Smart you!  If a person were to make a charge on the referral points but that would take a lot of effort!!!  It would only need to be about 300pts/referral divided into 10,000 - 3750 (max blog and comment points/week) = (6250 divided by 300 = 21 referrals)  That's not too many phone calls to people met along the way of a real estate career.  Let's say 3 calls for 2 people?  It is possible.

When a top points person in my area came up, I looked at his points... WOW!  Then, I saw he had over 100,000 in "referral points" along with 200+ referrals.  Lotsa points!  Imagine 500 points per referral, on average.  He never has to come back again as long as he has 10 avid posters.  Just thinking... sorry.

You guys are forgetting referral points... if someone referred about 30-40 people to AR, that would do it.

You guys are all also forgetting about linking points.
Between blogging, commenting, referral points and linking points it would be
quite easy to get more well over 10,000 points in a week. The trick is knowing
how and having the right resources.

By the way, you don't think he reads your blog do you?

ha ha

Best of luck to you Mirela.

A~

Better to stick to the quality you have been producing than suddenly put out a huge amount of material for points!

I suppose it's possible, but I would think you would be a brain dead zombie after accomplishing 10k points in seven days. I know my current addiction sometimes makes me walk away feeling a little like a zombie!

Yes, it is possible and he did it.  He beat me and took my Localism turf.  I was at the gates clicking every second for five minutes before it opened, but the nanosecond I was let in, Myrtle Beach AND North Myrtle Beach were already gone.  I'll never undertand how that could happen, but it did!

My competitor is damn good; obviously better at this AR than I am!

I guess the only way I can compete with him now is to sell more Real Estate.  Wait, I've got that one done already!

Ten thousand points in a week sounds rough.  It would be so much more than just the standard blogging and commenting.  I don't know how that would happen without some massive outside the box thinking.
