What a great community, and resource of information. Quite frankly much to much to handle even for someone like me who thrives on information.

I see a lot of great great posts, thoughts, and testimony on the help AR has provided specifically in the area of blogging and increasing exposure through blogs.

Are you long time and expert bloggers, are implementing these strategies on you personal and company websites to gain local and market exposure with the end clients?

Does one write about industry trends, local markets and such here in AR and try to point consumers here, or do you write and comment about the profession here with local market trends and such on the company site?

This commercial Real Estat'er needs some direction on how to sift through and implement all this into increasing his exposure and business.

James, if you have specific topics you would like info on then use the search button at the top. It works pretty good. Also, you may want to check out the groups(another button up top) to see if any interest you. This is a great place and you will find it very useful and addicting!

James, that is precisely the problem with the Web in general today. How do you sift through it and find meaning information that can be turned into actionable intel? The main difference with the blog wave is that the user community plays a larger role now in determining what is important for ranking with associations through social networking and such things as tag clouds instead of keywords and metadata.

On the other hand it is also nice because like networking events at your local Chamber of Commerce you can start a conversion and get input from other experts in the field or meet a potential customer. A Chamber mixer does not always work for some people because they find it hard to meet new folks and start a conversation. Whenever I participate in networking events I work it like a trade show and find it a rather enjoyable distraction from doing customer support all day long.

I also think it would do the commercial real estate professionals well to describe their businesses on this network in terms of their specialties, office environments, and business models. In my line of work I often trade work with other IT friends I network with because you can not always have the right diversified skill set in the office for certain customers. It is probably a very common problem in many businesses today. As a community it is easy to get off topic and talk about everything except your line of business but that is human nature.

Bryant - Thank you for your direction. I can see how this could be very addicting.

John - Excellent, thanks. I agree that this would be a good place to be specific and interact with others within the commercial profession, and industry.

Do you see more interaction with professionals or consumers?

James,

Over the years I interact more with professionals, a couple of CRE development companies, enterprise security management consulting and facilities, data centers and more recently working on qualified and validated industrial plant operations. Management Information Systems is still my favored area of work though. It does not matter what area you work, you have to do the marketing.

One of the things I appreciate most about the Active Rain community is the diversity of the membership.  During the the recent Sub-Prime lending crisis...which isn't over by a long shot yet...I really hoped that more members of the mortgage lending community would have written  about their insights & experiences.  The strength of this "stage" is the ability to really spotlight an area of expertise.  As a commercial Realtor, you have a perspective that the residential real estate agent cannot adequately address.  That being said...a Blog is Your Individual Expression & you can write whatever you want; ultimately, that's what keeps this forum interesting & engaging!
