City of Davenport Iowa

Davenport, Iowa has been given the distinction of  "A GREAT PLACE" by the Governor of the state of Iowa, Chet Culver!  You can read more about the recognition in my post:

Davenport Iowa's Skybridge by Lucky Lang

It will be announced today with a press release from the State of Iowa that Davenport, Iowa will be awarded $286,000 of the $2,000,000 available from the Iowa Great Places program.  Davenport was one of seven designated cities in round 3 (2007) of this program.  Other communities in this round included Appanoose County, Charles City, Council Bluffs, Decorah, Perry, and Valley Junction in West Des Moines.
