The New and Improved SafeMLS token from MRIS

I wish I had a camera that would do justice to the new token.  I tried but my "close ups" all look blurrier than a Saturday night after 4 Martguerita's.

MRIS has rolled out a new token in Prince George's County.  It's significantly smaller (yay!) and the "code" is all numeric so I can type it in on the numeric keypad while I'm holding the token in my other hand.  It's a lot easier and a lot quicker.

The smallness of it makes it a lot easier to carry on my keychain, too.  I no longer feel like I'm leaning to whatever side I place my keys (being a guy, it's usually one pocket or the other) and even though the numbers are smaller, at least they're easy to read and easy to input.

No, I'm not a shill for MRIS.  I still dislike the fact that I have to carry a token at all.  I still hate runnung back and forth between my computer and my kitchen counter (where I normally leave my keys) or leaving my keys near a computer that I use when I visit my office.

But I have to give MRIS "A" for effort.  At least they're trying and this new token is a big improvement.

Hi Ken,

We in West Virginia are waiting with bated breath for the new tokens.  I agree with you, having to mess with a token at all is a pain, but one with alpha-numeric codes is just ridiculous.  I still wish I could log on in the morning, and stay logged on all day...I know, that'll never happen.  Glad to hear you approve of the new token!

I like the new one myself. But I hate the fact that we need them. I have had 2-3 times when I was in a hurry to rush out the door to jump in my clints car to look at homes then they see a home that is on are list. I say I'll pull it right up on my lap top and see if we can get in. "sorry I left my keys at my office next to my computer" I know it was my fault for leaving them but hey i'm human and should be able to have access to the site with out it.

You figure anything had to be an improvement over the ones we have now.

Ken - I have to agree, this one is a lot better.  It was a pain trying to enter letters (in upper case) and numbers each time.

When you're a little bit dyslexic like me the E and 3 were a challenge.  And to underscore the irony, one time I had a display (imagine the odds) with only E's and 3's!

Resisted tacking yet one more thing to my overloaded keychain and kept it on a lanyard -- until the day I forgot the darn thing on my desk at home. The new fellas are cute, need my "cheaters" to read the display tho.

Ken,

I agree on all points. I truly believe in the year 2100 there will be a show on highlighting the worst ideas of the 21st century. This token login system will be in the top ten.

On the bright side, at the MRIS meeting yesterday they unveiled some improvements coming down the pike that were really great. They are working hard so I can't hold the token idea against them too much.
