One of the features I love most about summers in Rehoboth is the concerts at the Bandstand each weekend. Thursday through Sunday nights, the public is entertained by groups from all over the East Coast, including community bands, party bands and military bands (my personal favorite). I had the privilege of playing at the Bandstand with the Cape Henlopen Community Band two summers, until the band, well, disbanded. It was such great fun--even better than sitting in the audience. My hope is that some day the CHCB will resume (reband?), and I can enjoy the thrill of playing the flute part of The Stars and Stripes Forever before an enthusiastic crowd of vacationers and locals once again. In the meantime, I'll have to be satisfied with being part of the audience.
If you'd like to join me, this Saturday, August 2, the band performing will be The City of Fairfax Band--a community band that comes to Rehoboth each summer. Sunday night's group this week is The Diamond State Concert Band.
