I think I may be in big trouble!

Sharon Simms mentioned Seth Godin's new site, "Tribes" a day or so ago. At that time I had also received my invitation but had not done anything with it.

I finally got around to looking at it tonight - and, boy oh boy - sleep is going right out the window.

Very similar to Active Rain, Triiibes is set up on the premise of just that - we all lead our own "tribes." Be it our family, our employees, our civic groups. We interact with tribal characteristics. We band together to get the job done.

Triiibes does offer a blogging plat form, but it is more than that. It is a little bit Twitter, a little dash of Flickr, a little dab of YouTube all rolled into one. Triiibes goes beyond the real estate arena into all facets of marketing, technology and small business start ups - just to name a few.

This will be interesting to watch - yet another social networking platform.

Sleep? Who has time!

Gotta love the virtual village.  I'm with Tony, just need someone to invite me too... if that's how it works.  Any takers?

Thank you all for stopping by and for your comments!

As Missy, Sharon and Julietpointed out, the site is invitation only at this point. I didn't include a link for that reason. If you subscribe to Seth Godin's blog, you received an email on how to join. (Step one was to purchase Seth's latest book!)

I do believe the site refers to October as general admission, so to speak. Here is the Link for the blog.

I think Triiibes will be a great ADDITION to Active Rain- much more than the other sites. So far the blogs are geared toward informational GATHERING than informative, like here on the Rain.

There is a new deadline for application - August 5th.  Not sure how you get past screening.  He says they're letting people in in batches.  ?  One takes ones chances I guess.

Hi Debbie - I bought the book just after midnight, received my email invite by 8 AM, and was confirmed as a member by 9 AM. Just need to put some thought into the profile questions over the weekend. The biggest benefit I see to this is that it will add a whole new dimension to our online networking. New people and new ideas will help us grow personally and professionally.

Oh my -  with all of the new networking marketing choices, one does have to pick and choose.  I think for myself, I will pick a couple and concentrate on those.  Otherwise, I will never get any sleep or any work done.

I agree about having to choose which platforms have value and which don't. There are a few *I* can already weed out - my list may not be the same as others here on the Rain. The beauty of it all!

I received an email on the site, but stopped when I realized I had to buy the book.

How do you guys take care of your business and spend so much time online? I can't do it!

Debbie,

Here we go again. Another site to go take a sniff at and figure out if it fits into the larger picture. Great you pass on these ideas, that's what the Rain is all about, sharing info.

Sorry, guys, not enough time to comment individually! <G> I do appreciate the conversation we're having here.

Active Rain and Triiibes are simiar in that they bring together the best of the best, IMHO. Active Rain in the real estate arena. Triiibes in the marketing and promotion arena. I think they both are a good fit - so far better than some of the other "products" out there.

Hi Debbie, no need to comment.  Congrats on getting featured.  I just must not be too good at managing my time.  I have yet to figure out how everyone can keep up with all these Internet networking types of sites.  Maybe I like my sleep a little too much.
