temps

Las Vegas has always been noted for it's HIGH temps during the months of June, July, and August.  Normally in July Las Vegas has 115º temps at least twice.

The picture to the left was taken during the summer of 2007 in the middle of July.  The time is 5:30 p.m. Now THAT IS HOT!   But it seems July 2008 was unusual cool....the highest 'official' temperature (normally taken at McCarran Airport) for July 2008 was ONLY 111º.

Will the cooling trend continue for the month of August? We'll see....today, the first day of August, the 'official' high was 108º.  Saturday it should be a little cooler according to the meteorologist on tonight's news.

This is the PERFECT time to think about buying a home in Las Vegas/Henderson.  Let me know if I can help you with that.

Global warming... just from the hot air coming out of Al Gore.

Mary and I thought our Dallas triple digit temps were high. Get me a lemonade with ice please.

I was thinking the same thing the other day.  It hasn't really been incredibly hot this July.  Not that I am complaining, I enjoyed that it didn't get up into the teens and I hope August will stay relatively cooler like July.

Actually there are numerous places in the Northern Hemisphere that has below normal temps this summer. I think up in Anchorage they are well below normal and are about to set a record. Read www.iceagenow.com and you'll see news stories that aren't reported by the main media.

Holy cow.  I remember as a teenager going to Phoenix to visit family.  In August.  Thankfully I learn something with each new experience.  Each trip to Vegas has been planned so that I am leaving snow storms and landing there to sunshine and 70 degree days :-)

But, but, but,  it's a dry heat.  That's what I hear out west when the temp gets very high.  The last time I was in Phoenix when it was 100, I felt like I was turning into a prune.

Of course, here in the DC area, with temps of 95 and humidity of 98, one can hardly breath.

Mary, we're not all that far north of Vegas, and while the actual temperatures has been lower our humidity levels have been high for us, so that it still feels really hot.  I don't know whether global warming is real or not, I remember the '70s when the talk was of the next ice age!

Mary, my mother went to Vegas once and came back with wrinkles!  She should have used a ton of sun screen, and it taught me a lesson.  But anything over 100 degrees is really, really hot - dry or humid.

Yeah - this whole "global warming thing" is pretty far fetched - we know we have to take care of the environment but it seems some have to make it an 'extreme' case!

In our neck of the woods - we had our snowiest winter ever - in 1913 we had 12' of snow - a record until this year - with over 16' of snow recorded this year.

Our summer is more on par with our averages as opposed to the last decade with several weeks hitting over 100* each day.  This year we are lucky if we hit the mid-90's.  It's been SO NICE!!

Yes, definitely global WARMING. ;)

I think you should open a side business selling coats and sweaters with that cold snap.
