Find a hobby, surround yourself with people you enjoy and get invited to fun events.  Tonight my boss invited me to his home to play poker with the guys.  I was honored to be invited to his crowd of friends.  What was more surprising was I met another guy who was an insurance agent who also networked with another business partner of mine.  We are now going to get together and talk about the relationship opportunity.

Sometimes being invited to social events help put you in touch with the right people.  I have made it habit now to attend as many social events as possible and enjoy the time getting to know people.  This is paying huge dividends in my business.  Thought I would share.

Hmmm, was it penny poker?  I can only play every so many years.  I have beginners luck and then it goes away.  LOL!  So, then I have to wait for it to come back again.  :)

Every event is an opportunity.  I got a sale and a fabulous client from my coffee guy:)

Were you the "new" guy?

Did you leave the table and still have your shirt?

Good to be someone who participates...so long as you are NOT the "mark"...

Gary - I agree completely, and this is why I try to attend most of the events that I am invited to, although I can't make all of them.

PJS- It was a friendly game tournament style.  Sorry to disappoint you, but no one in that group will be quiting their job to be on the PPT.

Doreen- The big winner last night won a free dinner for 2 to a nice restaurant.  It was his first time he played Texas Holdem.  I would rather be lucky than good any day.  LOL :)

I really like that.  That is so true.  Thanks for the comment.

Shannon- LOL, I was the new guy to this group, but it was a pretty tame audience.  I like to play in big tournaments, and this was more of a social get together.  Still fun and met some great people.  Thanks for the comment.

This is so true, if you do not put those opportunities out there, they will never happen.  Your insights have always been keen.

Yes, luck will always beat skill in the short run. In the long run, skill will win out. I think that probably applies to our business also. Good point about social networking.

Gary, that's great that you were able to get that done.  I love it when that happens.  It seems to work best in situations where you aren't even trying to move a relationship forward.

I finished 2nd in the tourney and won a $25 movie gift card. I thought my pair of K's on the flop would be good but was beat by an Ace. The winner played very well and certainly deserved to win. My son and I went to see the Mummy the next day and were relatively disappointed. Oh well, at least the movie and drinks were free. I appreciate Dan, owner of Cherry Creek Mortgage, extending the invitation for me to join the game. I love playing. Oh, and just to remind Gary - thanks for folding your hand with my bluff. I needed those chips to stay in the game at that point :-)
