Just today I have identified a half a dozen agents on Active Rain that are probably losing thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars of business a year.

Active Rain is one of the first places I look to find a Realtor to refer business to.

Today, I'm looking for about a dozen profesionals to network with in a very specific niche market. I'm looking at the top AR bloggers in certain states and what I am finding is mind-boggling!!!

What I want is to communicate directly with you - not through a form and not by phone, at first. Just like a lot of potential buyers and sellers. But what I am running into is website after website with no email address.

I guess the fear of spam is greater than the thought of losing business.

I don't get it. Basic Marketing 101 says - publish as many ways as possible to contact you AND put them on every page of everything you publish - like a website.

Afraid of spam but still want business?

Publish your email address like this - john (at) HarperMees.com

I've had my email address all over the Internet for over 15 years. Spam has produced many challenges, but there are ways to address the issue without using Spam Arrest, an inconvenient form, or some other device that will send potential business looking elsewhere.

One of the Top 3 Reasons People Use the Internet is Anonymity.

If we want their business, we need to figure out how to honor that and allow an easy path for them to follow to contact us.

What do you think?

Are you a  - use my form or forget it - type of person?

I agree with you totally - I have tried to look up agents as well and it is like pulling teeth to find out contact information to get ahold of them.  I see your point and will make sure I am not in the same position.

good stuff. More agents make silly mistakes that cause them income loss...you must realize this is a business and you need to treat it like one.

No, but I certainly do get annoyed.  I have been saying I get at LEAST 150 emails a day that are pure junk, but even that seems to be getting bigger.  I also get another 25-50 emails from companies I KNOW, but I just delete them.  My true worthwhile emails are only a couple a day, and it is such a pain to sort through everything just to get them.  But as you say, I will continue to publish my email address.  I like your name (at) domainname idea.  Do you use that, and does it seem to help??

Sure nuff.....if clients can't reach you, you do not exist!

The e-PRO course should be mandatory education for all (new) agents.

John,

Thanks for your email message.   I just left you a voicemail message.  Tried to skype you from your website link but it said you did not exist.   I look forward to speaking with you...   Would have gotten back to you sooner, but I was working with a lead that came through clicking my email Colleen Kulikowski link in my header and two others that filled out my contact forms today.

Guess the email Colleen Kulikowski link in the header in red and the email Colleen Kulikowski link in the footer of my site is hard to find along with my phone number.  Or that the Email this author on every post along with my phone number is not visable enough....

Thanks for letting me know that they are so hard to see....

Colleen - just sent you an email. That red text does not pop out enough for these old eyes. I didn't find it until my third review of your header - no - I'm not legally blind!

Interesting thing to point out.  I have my phone number at the top of the page of my website but I don't have a way of contacting me through email there.  Although, my business card is on my website and that has my email address.  I always figured that people would just call me instead of looking for an email address.

John, I changed my home page on my website to have an "email me" hyperlink that seems to reduce the spam.

I have found that posting items for sale (other than real estate) on Craig's List results in FREAKS not sales and then they spam you.  Just a word to the wise.
