The White House announced today that President and Mrs. Bush will make a stop at Eielson Air Force Base en route to South Korea and Thailand before spending three days at the Olympics in Beijing, China. Officially designated as a refueling stop veterans and active duty personnel from both Fort Wainwright Army Post and Eielson Air Force Base will get the change to hear the President speak on a variety of military related subjects.

The Richardson Highway, which runs directly parallel to the runway at Eielson, will be closed for security purposes during the arrival and departure of Air Force One. The highway will be closed from 3:35 to 4:35 p.m. and again from 5:55 to 6:20 p.m. so please plan accordingly.

That's a great picture of Air Force 1.  Wish I had a plane like that.

Hi Jesse,

That would be a pretty neat sight to see. I'd be right there with my camera taking photos if I could.

Years ago I took my kids to see Pres. Reagan kick off his re-election campaign in Orange County, CA.  His motorcade rode right past us standing on the corner, the President and the First-Lady looked over and waved to us. We thought it was great!

Sir it looks like your area will be in for a treat and a lot of traffic hassles when he comes in.

Jesse, getting photos of Air Force One on the ground at the AFB would be a great one to add to one's collection of things you've seen.

Well, I suppose his trip won't inconvenience me too much down here in Texas fortunately.  Yet....that is a great picture.  I don't know that I've actually seen a picture as good as this before.  Great localism post that included something your AR fans enjoyed seeing also!

Jesse tell GW I said hello!  They will shut down everything when he comes for security...when the vp came here, they shut down like a whole 20 mile radius as well as made it a no fly zone for like 4 hrs!

Jesse, Just don't plan to be anywhere around the post when the pres arrives. When the pres comes here, the route between the airport and where he is going is blocked off to public access until he gets to where he is going... Still, very exciting to have him come to town...

Jesse...

A visit from the president is always exciting! It's amazing how much security is involved, it's not unlike a military operation!

Jesse, this is a great picture, especially the tail view with our flag. This is a monster size Jet. I have seen it here in Kenner at the airport. You can not miss it. If you get to visit the airport before and after arrival look at all the others planes that are there with the president. You will see several C130's. This is for the Secret services and the like.

Hi Jesse,
Are you planning to shake his hand?  I know things will be crazy during the visit.

Mark - It wouldn't be a bad way to travel, would it?

Lynda - Personal politics aside, it's a sight to see the President of The United States and his entourage.

Mel - Yes it is.  AF1 is an incredible aircraft.  747's are just ginormous.

Don - Kathy and I missed the festivities... for some reason we let this thing called work get in the way. :)

Gary - It would.  I have some old photo's of AF1 at Andrews but haven't been on the same field with her in a long time.

Susan - Hiya darlin'.  I'm doing great!

Elizabeth - This was taken by a friend a few years ago...it's a spectacular shot.

Sondra - His visit did back up traffic on the highway for a few miles but the gridlock didn't quite reach Texas.

Jer - I'm sad to say we missed the event.  There were closings and showings to deal with... darnit. :)

Michael - It is a headache.  I've see the gridlock a Presidential visit causes... and even in a small town like this it can be a mess.

Richard - I agree... It does resemble moving a brigade around now that you mention it.

Frank - It is a monster bird.  We planned to go for his visit but couldn't rearrange several appointments.  He does travel with quite the entourage, doesn't he?

Cynthia - That was the plan but a closing got in the way.  Next time I suppose.

Jesse,

Elizabeth has stolen my question. It is a heck of a picture. Marks would like to have this plane, is he up for elections in 4 years?

This book First lady president is fantastic, very close to the best in the series.I am trying to promote First Lady President,a true inspiring story of how such a figure might emerge as the first ever serious female candidate in a U.S. presidential election, and what opposition -- both culturally and politically Please check out this home site and help promote this amazing book.
