Signage - Lighted Yard Signs: Any Thoughts?

Thanks for the property. I have a colleague who used solar powered lights. I don't recall her raving about any added business as a result of the expense.

I like them because they are just a lot sturdier; the light is solar. I've never even mentioned them, really, to the Sellers. It's just all part of my "presenting" the property.

Hi Bill, I have just met with a company called Easy Signs and they offer solar signage.  It seems to be popular and I think it's because only few of the companies are using these that they are unique.
Anything to stand out against competition sometimes attracts sellers to list with you.  I have no personal experience with lighted signs but think the solar signs will be very popular.  by the way I saw you have airplanes on your site - I have a private airport for sale... are you interested in buying one in North GA Mountains for $5,995,000?  Of do you have a group of investors wanting to buy it together with you?  Let me know.  Thanks, Dagmar Sands

i use a solar powered lighted sign for my office sign.  The light is relatively weak and doesn't light the sign up like might think.  It does however catch the eye and I have had a number of people ask about it.  The cost for two was about 45 bucks and I have had it for about a year.  If you think of it as just a sign-meaning you will probably lose a couple of lead in or open house signs a year, you should try it. 

I do not use it on my listings in that the style I have is permanently attached to my mail box style posts.  I didn't want to have to take it on and off.  When I have some time, I will do research and find one that can be taken off easier.

Hi Bill - Some of the neighborhoods in Las Vegas actually have rules against lighted signs. I don't think there would be enough traffic during evening hours to justify a lighted sign. Sure, people may be able to see the sign, but will they really be able to see the house and yard?

I have a friend who ordered a few and he was very disappointed. He said the biggest issue he had was that they didn't produce as much light as the ad showed. The amount of light that was produced did not even cover the entire sign and his phone number was not easy to see at night.,,which was kind of the point. The bulb was also going out frequently and he had a bit of trouble keeping the solar panal clean on one that was under a tree. I don't think he will be oredering anymore, but it may just depend on the company....

Bill I use reflective signs from Aztec Marketing in Arizona. If you drive down a street at night only one for sale sign is visible, mine. You Can buy 3 reflective signs for the same as 1 solar...

Bill, Thanks for polling AR members for their thoughts on sign lights. I'm from RealEstateSigns.com. We don't offer them for two reasons: cost & effectiveness.

I agree with Paul - reflective signs are a better value. (By the way, the folks at Aztec are great people).  As for effectiveness, John is right, if you can't see the house and yard, what's the point?

Maybe inexpensive low voltage garden lighting would be better. You could set them up in a T shaped layout with four along the front of the house and one out to the sign. Consider it exterior staging!

Glad you asked this question, as I have often wondered how well these signs worked.
