Do you know?  I know!!  I know!!  This is a great little piece of trivia for EVERYONE!!  There are alot of sports in the world using very large playing fields.

A baseball field is pretty big.  baseball field

What about  Soccer -Field Hockey -  Rugby???   What about Lacrosse?............  (A Lacrosse field is 110' long by 60' wide)

By now you are thinking - come on, Kara - we know it is a football field!  Is that what you are thinking??  That it must be a football field?  Well, a football field is 360' long by 160' wide.

arrowhead stadium - kansas city chiefs

If you haven't guessed by now - I'll fill you in.   Did you know?...... that a polo field is the largest playing field in all sports.    Well, think about it - with all those horses out there it has to be big.  Two teams with four players each  (and all on horseback) - - PLUS two referees - both on horseback.   The field has to be big!

Take a look!

300 yards long and 160 yards wide to be exact.  Slightly larger than 9 football fieldsand almost 10 acres in size.

Kara ~ What about a Canadian football field. We can't forget about our friends up north.

hey Ryan.....  according to my sources -  A Canadian Football Field is 150 yards long by 65 yards wide.   Still a far cry from the polo field dimensions of 300 yards long and 160 yards wide.   sorry.

I didn't think of that one!!!!!!  You got me thinking on that one it looks like the crowds are really spread out too, so everyone gets a good view........

Yes Frank - the spectators are along both sides of the field.     This pic is from a huge tourny final match so the vip tents are set up along the clubhouse side of the field :)

I think you just answered your own question Ryan.  Is it a golf course - - - or a golf field?  ;)

(it would appear that Ryan came back and deleted his comment...hmmm - not sure why, though.   His question was "what about a golf course?"  )

Hi Duane !  Yes the horses do get very tired (and a fresh horse is key to the players performance) - - that is why every player has a 'string of polo ponies'.

Kara, ahh, didn't know that. Think the only time I seen any thing to do with Polo was on Pretty Woman.
