A Great Place... That is what I think of living in Viroqua. Now even Mother Earth Newsthinks so too! Our town has made the third annual list of the "9 great place you never hard of." I know the vast majority out there have never heard of Viroqua, WI. For sure, I also know they usually can't pronounce it. Since the article I have had 3 appointments from people who have read the magazine and would like to come out this way to investigate living here.
Some of the special things that make
living in Viroqua interesting is our city is commitment to sustainable agriculture and organic farming. We have a Waldorf school, which brings in many new families every year, and we also have done a great job keeping our Main Street stores full with new businesses and shoppers.
In spring and summer Main Street is always bustling with many shoppers and tourist. On Saturday morning the Farmer's Market is the center of activity located in the parking lot of our community college WWTC. It is where the local organic CSA farmers have booths to sell fresh picked produce, there are the Amish who are selling quilts and baskets and local artisans with jewelry and other crafts for sale. We also have a great 18-hole golf course; of which I am a member. Then there are the wonderful rivers and streams that bring in anglers who are eager to get into that clear fast water. These well known trout streams offer some great fly-fishing. Thanks Mother Earth, you just let one of the best kept secretes out of the bag!

Viroqua sounds like my kind of place - it is a shame the word had to get out, but look at all the money you'll make, Karen
