I received an e-mail from Lysa Napolitano today looking for some Juicy Gossip! I've been meme'd! You want it, you got it:
My 3 sons (John 24, Ryan 22 and Bobby 21) and I grew up in the same neighborhood in Pompano Beach, Florida. My parents lived 4 blocks away from me and my ex-husband lived 3 blocks away in Pompano Beach Highlands. I had the same mail man as an adult as I did as a kid. My sons and I all went to the same Elementary, Middle and High Schools. On occasion I would go pick the boy's up from a friends house and it would turn out that I went to high school with one or both of the parents. My oldest son John had the same kindergarten teacher as my brother and he also had the same typing teacher as I did at Deerfield Beach High, Poor John!
When I was a kid, I grew up with Wrestling on television and also in High School, I was a huge fan. Remember guys like Tommy Rich, "Nature Boy" Rick Flair and Andre the Giant. Not only did I watch it but I was a wrestling manager where I earned a varsity letter in my freshman year in high school. For one of Bobby's birthday's we saw guys like "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash. Bobby actually wanted me to marry Kevin Nash, I don't think that his wife would have appreciated it but in Ormond Beach, Florida I belonged to a gym called Olympas and I spotted him on an exercise bike and one of my girlfriends was nice enough to introduce me to him. This is was 2 years ago and I was star struck. Currently every Friday night you will catch me watching Smackdown. My two favorite wrestlers are Batista and John Cena. My husband laughs as I carrying on like a fool but I think wrestling will always be a part of my life.
I retired from Winn Dixie at 35 years old to pursue a real estate career. I worked my way from a cashier to a location director working every department in a grocery store. Yes I unloaded trucks, mopped floors and cut meat. I was 1 of 2 location directors that were female in the Miami division of 153 stores in the South Florida Area. I did a professional photo shoot for Winn Dixie where there were contracts and agreements for permission to use my photos on all of their recruiting materials. Yes I was a cover girl for WD. I attempted to retire, at first they offered me a position in the corporate offices. I worked a desk job for 3 months in the human resource department part-time while I got my real estate started. I could not manage both so it was that point I decided to retire and start my new adventure.
My oldest son John made my wildest dreams come true, he won tickets to a Lenny Kravitz intimate concert. Knowing that I was a huge fan asked me to be his date. While in South Beach we were walking around. There was a special event and banners everywhere advertising fashion models being in South Beach. A gentleman approached my son and asked him what my name was and asked if I was a model. Must have been the rock and roll clothes I was wearing. Once inside Virgin Records we were living large, it was quite an elegant event, incredible food anything you wanted to drink, people catering to your every wish. The setting quite intimate with candles as lighting, couches and chairs everywhere and Lenny Kravitz on stage singing and playing the acoustic. At the end of the show we were escorted upstairs where we had photo's taken of groups of 10 with Lenny Kravitz. I was very lucky as one of his people moved me next next to him and they snapped the shot. When I got my picture in the mail, I wanted a retake, you could see that I was at awe and it looked like I was terrified.
Last but not least my husband grew up in Coral Gables, Florida and we actually met in Daytona Beach, Florida he was a competitor in the Pan American Games in 2000 he won a bronze medal for Olympic tae-kwon-do. His favorite Martial Arts is Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, he has many black belts and plenty to be proud of. Sometimes he practices on me, it used to get on my last nerve. Now like him I try to feel it, think about it and get myself out of his clutches! Sometimes I do!
Thanks Sarah for creating this group. This was fun! Hey you three down there..
