This post is an introduction to my favorite area in Thurston County.  I am a resident of South Bay and a realtor serving the area Thru my Real Estate Buyers Web Site, www.PhilSharpHomes.com.

 South Bay is generally considered to be the area north and east of downtown Olympia, bordered on the south by the City of Lacey, to the north is the sound, with Johnson Point and Hawks Prairie to the east.  The area is generally rural, with several large lot subdivisions and numerous small farms and acreages.  View a map of the South Bay Area here.

Residents of South Bay live primarily within the Olympia postal area, with a very few in Lacey.  Zoning, permitting and law enforcement juristictions are all Thurston County.  Our residents include a wide variety of folks, including those who work in and around the Olympia area, Military folks (and retirees, such as myself), as well as quite a few that commute as far as Seattle and even Portland.  A very diverse crowd, but a crowd with a real sense of neighborlyness.  As an example, the home that my wife and I share was built by our neighbors for the previous owner; A woman who's husband was disabled in the war.  Of course it is a little unnerving to know that the neighbor that installed the plumbing is a lawyer, but it's the thought that counts.

With our proximity to the city, rural environment, the spectacular views of Mt. Rainier, and access to the Sound and all of its wonders; Living here is easy. If you are moving to the area, or considering relocating away from the hustle and bustle of Olympia and Lacey, South Bay should be high on your list of great places to live.

Wether you are interested in buying an existing home, or building a new home, the community is a wonderful and peaceful place to raise a family or just enjoy life in the country.
