CULTURE really does matter.  What is your business's culture?  If the owner hasn't set it, have the employees?  Is the culture best for business, or is it an accident?  At ActionCOACH, Brad Sugars has done a great job defining fourteen points of culture that guide the company and the coaches...and they're spot on for quality, accuracy and results!

At ActionCOACH, our third point of culture is INTEGRITY.  Here's what integrity means to ActionCOACH and to me:

"I always speak the truth. What I promise is what I deliver. I only ever make agreements with myself and others that I am willing and intend to keep.  I communicate potential broken agreements at the first opportunity and I clear up all broken agreements immediately."

Imagine how good it would feel to spend money with businesses who keep their promises and don't make excuses for their mistakes.  How do your clients view your practice?  If it's a practice with integrity, you are more likely to have a client for life.

It really is an extremely important decision to make to have integrity. And it IS a decision, it doesn't just happen naturally. I have to remind myself of that everytime I tell someone I'll call or email. I have to say to myself, "Do you actually plan to call that person? Because if you don't call them now, you've broken your word, which is the basis of your integrity." That always prompts me to make the call.

January Financial, thanks for your comments.  I admire that you ask yourself whether you'll follow through with a promise to "call or email..."  Great way of approaching things that can seem so casual.  I'm going to do that as well.  I appreciate thoughtful response.
