The leader's best friend is the big "Mo" according to leadership expert John Maxwell.  Sometimes that begins with a phone call, an e-mail or simply a cheerful smile.  Moving forward with momentum is the key!

Each one of us as Real Estate Professionals (Agents, Home Stagers and all others) are leaders.  We must all create the big "Mo" to be successful.  That is much easier said than done.  Let's be realistic.  Many people are dropping out of the Real Estate Profession.  Leaders are found one at a time just Leaderlike eagles.

Leaders must be courageous.  Even in the face of fear, leaders declare "We Can Win!  Follow Me!"

Leaders know how to change and adapt to produce success.  If a mountain is blocking the path, leaders say, "We may not be able to go through it, but we can go over it or around it!"  "Maybe we can even use this mountain as a resource in a way that no one has imagined!"

Leaders look at the big picture and strategize to organize the smaller details.  Followers say that the obstacle is too big to overcome.  Leaders boldly declare:  "We are the ones who will overcome this obstacle!"  "It may take a few thousand scoops with our shovels lined up in the right direction, but we will do it!"

Leaders know how to fail with dignity.  "This creative idea didn't work, but we learned some valuable lessons that we can apply to our next creative proposal!"

Leaders are those who are "Moving with Momentum!"

I didn't realize the leadership required of RE professionals until I became one. It certainly does take momentum to pick up the phone every day, deliver news that sellers don't want to hear, or gently guide new buyers down the path of home ownership.

Thanks Dan, for the inspiration and encouragement!

Dan, great thoughts and inspiration on leadership and momentum. I think the field of real estate is definitely one of momentum, as it takes awhile to get a business off the ground, especially in a tough market. A place like Active Rain with much sharing and networking and teaching, is a perfect platform to assist in gaining momentum.

Dan:  Momentum in business and attitude is so important.  I see more and more people in this business getting stagnant, depressed and they become a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Keep moving.  Keep doing.  Be postive.  Your business will flourish.

Dan, I love it "Look, Listen and Launch"... There is so much to learn and the information is vast.  I love what you say about momentum - momentum can start from anywhere - the key is to be aware of it and ride with it.. you are right, it can start with a smile, email or a phone call.   Similarily, momentum (if we let it) can go away with a frown, a received email rant or a negative phone call.  A leader will persevere from that and will let that negativity "flow right off of them" and not effect one's attitude.

The beautiful aspect about A/R is that the community has immense positive karma, positive energy and a vast network of wisdom and resources.  Is quite awesome !

Thanks for sharing !

P.S - just subscribed to your blog... you have some excellent material and writings !

Dan, excellent post! I like LOVE the part about "Leaders know how to change and adapt to produce success." that's the type of people we are looking for on our program. Someone who dares to be different, steps outside the box and soars above the rest. Tough to get people agents to think this way though! You NAILED it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan, thanks for writing this post.  After the last couple of days, I've needed something to help me "get back on track" as I found myself terribly distracted with what is a minor irritation in the total scheme of things.

Your reminding me about John Maxwell's thoughts on leadership certainly got me back on the right track.  Because of you, I've pulled out my copy of his book, "Developing the Leader Within You" for my bedtime reading material.  Thanks.

Even though I do not get to stop by every day, I really enjoy your posts Dan.

Great Post Dan there is nothing like MO

You get energized by it and it somehow attracks more business!

If it fades - the only way to get back the MOJO (lol) is to tirelessly WORK until it returns :)

thanks for your insight

Sincerely,

Grace
