Whoa, it's almost 5:00 pm here in Huntsville Texas and our electricity just went out.  Our heat index today is supposed to be up to 106 degrees. It is totally miserable. I've closed all the drapes and blinds to attempt to conserve cool air. I just finished reading Adam Waldman's Goodbye to his father and I'm feeling lonely, as I am alone and a bit apprehensive about this possible problem with the electricity.

A hurricane is on its way and I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully it will downgrade to a Tropical Storm. It should hit the coast at Galveston, TX. We are north of Galveston by 150 miles and like when Rita came through we still get the destructive bands that go with it. I imagine it has to do with the power being overworked altogether in our area with this heat wave. Thank heavens for notebook computers that will give me a titch more time to write. I can't get the Internet of course without the power so here I sit.

I will have to fill you in on what it was like with hurricane Rita...yuk. Talk about the heat. We were without power for six days running in the muggiest heat wave on record. The carpet in my home buckled from the heat and the humidity.

This is just a glimpse of a reminder at how bad that was!

Stay cool...take care and I hope to be back later.

Later in the rain~Deb

Deb, I heard about this one coming in yesterday. Stay safe. We could definitely use the cooling and rain up our way.

Deb, I hope that you are safe during the hurricane... Yikes!  We don't get a whole lot of hurricanes up here, but my parents were hit quite bad in Florida a few years ago.

Deb - I too hope it will be downgraded.  I lived through many hurricane and there is nothing funny about it.  I sure hope you have all the emergency items on hand.  See you soon.

Deb, I was kind of surpised that the grocery stores were not busier this afternoon although the water isle was almost empty.  I did find some at the back of the store that must have got missed.  I have out of town buyers and I'm supposed to show houses all day tomorrow.  It should make for an interesting day.  If it gets too bad I will of course cancel.  In watching the news it looks as though it is turning this direction, YUCK!!

Hi Deb, we were in Louisiana for the weekend and drove IH-10 back home today -- lots of convoys of buses and Nat'l Guard troops heading towards Houston area (maybe Galveston area) from the West (I assume San Antonio).  We didn't hit any rain coming this way -- good to be back home -- glad we didn't stay until tomorrow -- we'd be driving through the bad weather or would have had to stay another day.  We do need the rain here in the San Antonio area but sure hate that we have to get tropical storms or hurricanes to get rain.  Whew, watching the weather -- it's still a tropical storm but there will be wind and rain.

Seems like Dolly just hit us -- San Antonio was on the East side of it and we got lots of tornadoes around the area -- some touched down and damaged some neighborhoods and businesses -- others just went right over.  (Like the one over our area -- remember me getting the call from my husband telling me to go sit in the closet!)  After we talked again (after the warnings were lifted), I went to a neighborhood ACC meeting and the lady who lives in the cul-de-sac behind me told me a funnel cloud was seen by her neighbors on the street behind them -- haha -- that was my street!!!!  I didn't feel so dumb going to sit in the closet after she told me that!  Thankfully, it didn't touch down anywhere.

Stay safe during the storms -- praying for you.  :)  See you in Austin, soon!!!   :)

Deb, while I've been looking forward to the rain, your post has made me realize that I need to be praying for everyone that will likely be in the storms path.

I am so sorry to hear that your electricity went out again.  I'd call you if it wasn't so late.  If you and your husband lose electricity due to the storms, please consider coming to College Station.  Nothing happened to us....nothing...with Rita.  (It was almost a let down, as we didn't even get any rain.)  This is not the time of year that anyone wants to be without AC.  Call me if you need to:  979-575-2700.

Hey Y'all! Our electric is on and going strong...whew. It's way too hot for all this. Sondra darling don't tease me...you may find us on your front door!

Judi, It's much better at this moment! Who knows what tomorrow will bring? Sometimes the spin-offs are worse than the huricane itself!

Marchel, Denise and I went into contract today and it's filed at the Title Company! She started in our office being trained today too! I'll call you tomorrow.

Liz, this isn't going to be as bad as we all thought. I'm just hoping for some nice calm rain!

Missy, those pics you got of the corn flowers are just amazing. They are one of my favorite flowers. Great shots!

Susan, thanks...I think it's only going to be a bit bumpy. Marchel will feel it too!

Ricki, thank you to you and Don. I am also looking forward to seeing you soon.

Jennifer, it hasn't hit yet so we'll see. If it does hit as a hurricane it's only going to be a 1 or 2 so it could be a lot worse!

Brian, I remember the one in Fla although the name escapes me. It got really really bad. My son was in Daytona at the time and he sent pics with total destruction! I hope your parents are fine.

Tom, thank you so much. Everyone closer to the coast has really been batoning down the hatches.

Gary. I'm praying for the rain too...just not the twisters!

Later in the rain~Deb

Debra, I'm watching the Television this morning to see where its going since I have appointments all day.  It looks like it is going to the right of us like Rita did so you had better button down your hatches that means you will again be on the right side which is not supposed to be the good side.

Deb - I was happy to hear that the storm has passed.  I see you are blogging so you must have power and AC back, that's good news.
