Get the first piece of AR swag ever made

(Is that how you spell swag?)

A few months ago we hired an awesome graphic designer. He was toiling away at the massive compound one mile from our office in Redmond WA where his talents were being sucked from him. (yes, that compound, that company, that Redmond WA). You have seen some of his work on the new localism and the New new localism.

His latest project has been to design a Localism/AR land rush T-shirt. I'm not at liberty to show you the design just yet, as it is TOP Secret. However, I am at liberty to let you know:

Every ActiveRain member that sponsors a minimum of 5 communities/cities on the day their state Land Rush takes place will receive a free Localism/AR T-shirt.

(for members in the states/provinces that went Monday, or Thursday in WA, and may have sponsored one or two more just to get the shirt, you have all day today to get your total to five)

This is the first time we have produced anything like this. What can you do with your new Localism/AR T-shirt? The possibilities are endless..........

You could wear it......I know, I know....how boring.
You could use it as a flag to surrender to the British
You could tie it around your head in the last mile of your marathon to keep the sweat out of your eyes (or like me, in the first 100 yards of your 100 yard dash)
You could send it back to us, have us autograph it, then burn it as a sign of your frustration at not having 'that great post' you wrote get featured
You could cut the sleeves off it, cut a few hole is the back and rip it off in your next backyard wrestling match ala Hulk Hogan (that one was for you Sardi)

I'm serious, the possibiities are endless!!!

Yesterdays Land Rush went better than we anticipated. Our members secured over 1300 of their favorite communities. It was very exciting for us to see there are people out there that are starting to understand our vision for Localism. Jorgen, the lead developer on the project, is now on to programming his butt off to add the cool tools and features that will truly make Localism the World's first Neighborpedia and give you what you need to engage and connect with your communities.

I want to personally thank everyone that participated yesterday and last Thursday. Your support is not lost on us, we appreciate it more than I can put into words. Thank you!!

Do you care what I'm doing and thinking? (I can not for the life of me imagine why) If you do, you can find me on some of these places........but remember, if you are offended by anything you see or hear, I didn't force you to follow me!!:

Instead, maybe invest the money from the land rush into fixing Localism rather than TV shirts? Just an idea. ;)

I would wear my Localism shirt while running the trail in my target city!!! Can you say..."Free advertising"!!!

We are putting plenty of money into the development of Localism. We have always worked with an itterative programming style. Because we want to be able to adapt to the suggestions of our members, our code base is something that we can easily build on. The tools and features that we will add over the coming weeks and months will make a $9 investement in a community/city well worth it. And if you don't think so, you can always cancel at any time.

Bob - Today is the first day I have had a channce to view the new Localism. It is certainly an improvement visually and I have learned that I will need to reformat my future blog topics for a better fit.

Do you need the address to ship my three (3) T-shirts? I need to call you anyway...

Bob, Like JB, I had only purchased 4 - so I am going over now to buy my broken county (hint, hint Rich!), because I am a sucker for tshirts that I don't wear :) but it can join the Zillow tee from David G on the wall.

Yeah I get a free shirt how cool. Man the adrenaline was pumping as I feverishly clicked on cities and communties. I might have gone a little crazy but figured rather secure it now and let it go later if I wanted to. :)Thanks for the great work!!!

I am guessing AR is going to sell the t-shirts as well give them out as not all members will be able to secure or sponsor their communities on Localism....just a thought since the possibilities of what to do with the t-shirts are endless!

Bob- I've already sponsored my whole town (BTW- thanks for your help on the phone. I can't wait for the additional editing tools), but the T-shirt incentive, almost had me going after additional, smaller, marketing areas. The researcher in me, checked keyword searches and there just aren't enough to justify the purchase. ;-( Still....for a Localism/AR T-shirt. I have 'til 3 AM (EDT) to decide.

Bob you'd be worth the wait - and I go to Seattle a few times a year....or La Conner.........we should make a point to meet lunch and do the exchange........maybe by that time Sylvie Conte will be here from Toronto and we can make it a threesome...:-)

Hmmmm now I read this...so of course I miss out on the t-shirt...hey does helping other members buy communities count.... LOL :) Oh, and I say give Matt 2 shirts for getting trampled :)

BOB - I hadn't planned on sponsoring any communities because I was waiting to see what the value is. Now I can comfortably spend $45, knowing full well that if no business comes from the sponsorship, that I at least have a t-shirt for my troubles.

This will be the most expensive t-shirt I ever bought! The good news is, I have sponsored all 5 of the cities in our county so no one else can get them. The bad new is...our whole county doesn't even have 40,000 people. Let's see....$1 per person per month...this is deductible right? (Still hoping us country bumpkins will get a break on sponsoring a small county.) Regardless of the cost, it's a great thing you're doing here and I'm glad to be a part of it all. I'm already getting a few locals mentioning finding me on localism, and I'm just getting started. Oh, and I'll definitely need a size large.

I like the Land Rush moniker.....makes it exciting to see this concept rolling out.

I wish we could customize them with our communities on them! I'm on to buy mine today...can't wait!
