Craven County, NC has experienced an increase in foreclosures in 2008 vs. 2007.  On a percentage basis the number is high, however when you consider the number of owner occupied homes in Craven County somewhere around 25,000-26,000, (2000 Census was 23,083) the number is still small.

Total foreclosures 2007           336      divided by 25500     1.32%  owner occupied went into foreclosure

Foreclosures 2007 thru July     174      divided by 25500     51.8% of  2007 total     

Foreclosures 2008 thru July     218      divided by 25500     +25.29 % increase on July 2007 YTD 

Based on current averages total foreclosures could be around 420 for 2008  25% increase still 1.65% estimated  total owner occupied.
