My wife refuses to watch the Evening News. Actually, she won't watch or read ANY news story. She says that the news is depressing. I advised that news is reality and she asked me why she needs to watch or read depressing news. I thought about this and told her that she needs the news to make informed life decisions. She said when she needs to make an important decision, she will do research and consult experts in the field. Of course, I hope she was talking about me. Again, she has an excellent point. And now I know why she is always so darn happy.

But I think news can be be enjoyable, positive, and enlightening. So, I am going to show her that the news is not always negative. I am going to do my own research and find some positive news and send it her way every day. In a blog format. Here's my first attempt at finding positive news.

Dow gets 331-point boost

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks surged to one of the year's biggest gains Tuesday, as oil prices fell sharply and investors appeared to take solace in the Federal Reserve's assessment of the nation's economy.

Wow. I was going to include several positive news stories to show my wife and the World how good news can be. The task turned out to be more difficult than what I estimated. OK. Maybe she is right again. The news can be pretty depressing. We'll just include one story today.

See you tomorrow.
