Free tool... Very cool idea!

Do you ChaCha? Just picked this up from a web design trade journal I subscribe to and thought it was too cool not to share... Check it out. As long as you dont have to pay for text messaging now this is a free service.

text ANY question to 242242
within seconds to min. you will get a response...
tested a few things and got answers back quickly...
quality seems to be good
can even get local traffic and other REAL specific questions answered.

you can even go on-line at http://www.chacha.com/

or there is an 800# but apparently the quality is not as good that way...

I'm on Nextel, and I can text, but just haven't taken the time to figure out how to do it. I respond to things coming in, but to do a new message going out, like sending a text to 242242...hmmm...not sure what that means. Do I type those numbers in the place that looks like an email address would go? (ouch, I feel a bit stupid...but they say there are no stupid questions)

I keep seeing messages on TV about texting to some 4 or 5 digit number, and I'm sitting there thinking...yeah right. I would but...

Anyone care to help me? Enlighten my world and make it brighter...I'm a texting dummy. I know how to email from my computer though.

Yea, just type in the number and off it goes... just like you would the phone number. I know it looks strange but it works...

It is fun just to send off questions... use it at the restaurant to help with trivia, etc...

Sounds like a Kool Tool to use. I'll give it a try.

had not really thought about using it on the team... could be a good tool for my buyer agents while out in the field and get questions they don't know right off the top of their head...

I have not used the web version but on the text version I have never received any spam... From what I know of their business model that would KILL them in their tracks so I think you are completely safe...

That is VERY cool! I wish that had something like that for DaytonA! ;) Half the time, I can't even find what I want from ANY of our resources.

Hey, you can use this anywhere... get local info or trivia they have "reps" all over that do the "looking" for you.

This is great - I just checked it out and received a message right away saying my answer is on the way. I was out with my nephew recently and had a question about a particular dish at a restaurant and he did something on his phone and had an answer right way - could have been something like this - it was impressive to have an answer like that so can see it as a great way to impress my clients.
