The August 3rd Sun Sentinel lead article, "New wave of Baby Boomers ready to descend on Florida," offers plenty of hope for the state's depressed housing market of the past two years.

According to the article, "Between 2010 and 2030, Baby Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, are expected to descend on Florida in even larger numbers and will increase their standing as the state's largest age group. The reason: They are nearing retirement age, the state's housing prices have become more affordable and Florida's tropical climate remains a draw."

Thanks for the ray of hope. It would be interesting to look at today from 5 years from now. I am sure that the huge waive of baby boomers will change the market and drive it up liek we never coudl imagine.

I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin, but could not agree with you more. My grandfather has had a winter home in Sarasota for years. Now that my father and aunt are getting closer to retirement age, they have both made recent purchases this year, because of the great prices right now. It's safe to say there is a BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL on Florida retirement homes. Every retiree loves a bargain!
