Dawn Maloney had a post on "Crime-Ridden Neighborhoods Ruin Rentals!"  and spoke of wanting to be part of the solution.  Today, in the Akron Beacon Journal, there is an article titled "Neighbors March, Vow to Fight Crime."  The link to the article is below:

 It makes interesting reading and exemplifies one neighborhood's attempt to fight crime in their area.

I haven't read the article yet but I have been to lectures here given by the local PD.  Get the Police Department involved in your neighborhood watch.  Start your neighborhood watch early before it becomes a problem.  Great idea for a blog.  I hate seeing the values of neighborhoods go down because of thugs.  There is no reason for it!!

Hi Linda, thanks for your comments.  I agree, starting a neighborhood watch program is an excellent idea and the local police departments are the first step in getting one going.  As an educator and school administrator I was responsible for working with the local "youth division" and "Summit County Juvenile Court."  Both of these groups were proactive in their efforts to establish neighborhood watch programs.
