Remember when...

By

•·       Shocking headlines were reserved for the tabloids at the grocery store.

•·       We sat in gas lines and gas had just hit $1.00.

•·       The name 7-11, meant the store hours were 7am to 11pm.

•·       The Sunday newspaper had more to read than just ads and cost a whopping quarter.

•·       The gas pump had no $75 limit and if it did it was seldom used.

•·       The service station would give you plates or knife sets with every fill up. (Not take food off your plates.)

•·       It was fun to go to the airport and fly someplace.

•·       You could leave your windows open at night.

•·       Boston's sports teams were the punch lines for jokes.

•·       The average purchase and sale document was 1 page and a long complicated document might be 3 pages.

•·       You walked into your local bank for a home loan.

•·       Fast food was when you helped prepare dinner.

•·       The horn on your car was accompanied by a five finger waive.

•·       You could buy something for a penny, nickel or dime at the store.

•·       You had to add and subtract in your head and your spell checker was your mom.

My list goes on and on. How long is your list?

Yes, more depressing than funny for those of us at that age. I remember paying 29.9 cents a gallon for gas and a $1 worth of gas was more than enough for a Saturday night. I remember drive in movies and juke boxes and car hops. Thanks for the memories.
