iphoneI admit it. I am a gadget guy. Over the years I have tried to temper this by only purchasing selected gadgets that either combine other gadgets into one or make me more efficient. So, it was with great interest to me when Apple first came out with the iphone a year ago. Although I wanted it I really could not justify the original $500 price tag or making the switch over to Cingular/AT&T from Verizon.

That all changed last month when Apple launched the new iphone at " 1/2 the price and twice the speed" for a more reasonable $199. After spending WAY too much time trying to just get one I finally found what must be the last of them in New Hampshire (for now) down at the Apple store in Salem, NH.

I liked my Treo and I liked my Blackberry but the iphone by far is simply the best phone/mobile computer I have ever owned

I could list all the real estate specific ways the iphone makes life easier but Jack Roth already did a fantastic job of that here on AR.

Honestly this is really the "killer app" for real estate agents as it leverages your efficiency outside of the office and truly provides the mobile/ virtual office environment that the many prior smart phones promised.

If you are on the fence about getting one I encourage you to make the investment. This one pays off.

Not a realtor but a gadget type of woman. I love my iphone. Got it in December last year and I haven't missed one phone call, or an email, every email address is on it, now AIM is on it, with yahoo messenger. I have Google, mortgage calculator, camera, even my contacts all in one place. Will probably buy the new one cause that has GPS on it and give this one to the husband. It's awesome! Cute game is ipint. drinkaware.co.uk

Until I Phone becomes available on T-mobile we are out of luck. ATT just does not do well for service in our local area.

The iPhone isn't bad, I must say. I have the new 3G iPhone.. and it works pretty good. But its defintely not the best phone on the market. The HTC 8925, or HTC Tilt.. and soon to be new HTC Diamond is a much better business/personal PocketPC. But.. to each their own.

Nancy: That link to the "iphone beer" is GREAT! Thanks for sharing--I have had fun with that already. BTW, I copy/pasted it wrong when I first put it in the browseer so I googled the partial url and your comment above came up as the second result, page one on Google. That is some fast indexing of a current post that Google did.

Bob: I am actually in a Verizon area and AT&T claims they have no service here yet I have better signal with AT&T than my primary home carrier....not the usual case I am sure. I am just happy to break free of Verizon. Worst wireless phone experience I have ever had--poor customer service.

TRP: I suppose I am a bit jaded as I am a Mac guy and the iphone works so seamlessly with Macs. Mobileme ( I was an old .Mac member well before Mobileme) makes synching my emails, files, calendar and contacts simple between my work mac, home mac and iphone. That for me is the beauty of it. I will have to check out the HTC Diamond...the tilt and touch apps will be all over the place soon.

Sean, another one you might like. If you have AIM, APPLE has an application, but it you have GMail chat, or Yahoo, as of yet they have nothing to support it. Try this, I love it.  http://iphone.mundu.com  .

So many applications out there. Enjoy it.

Hey Eric,

Check out Brad's post here for MUCH more detailed info on the iphone. I am STILl loving mine. It is a paradigm changing thing for sure as I feel totally mobile in all manner with it. Before email, web surfing and phone calls were all handled awkwardly-now it is all in one place and done flawlessly.
