Well, on with the Brett Favre saga.  The fans in Wisconsin are sure tired of this story!!  Brett boarded a jet in Green Bay around lunch time.  He is headed back to Mississippi.  He was escorted by the police from his home to the air field.  He left with more luggage than he came with.  My guess - he has said good-bye to his home in Green Bay.

If I sold real estate up there, I'd be a knockin on his door....

RUMOR has it that the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are having a little bidding war right now.  The 2:30 pm press conference that was scheduled to be held at Lambeau Field with Ted Thompson was canceled --- ooops --- DELAYED---- until later.

So - there you have it.  Brett and The Green Bay Packers Management just can't mend the fences that were tore down this past year.   It is such a shame.  Brett has for so long been a team player in Green Bay.  I am sure we do not even know 1/2 of the real story going on...

In the press conference yesterday, coach McCarthy said that Brett wan't in the right frame of mind to play on the team.  I think that is because McCarthy would expect Brett to sit on the bench, watch Aaron Rodgers and not actually PLAY football.  Well, if that's the case, I can't blame Brett at all.  Why would such a fantastic athlete sit on the back burner?

In any case, whoever fills Brett's shoes will have a difficult time.  For all the complaining about Brett's wild arm, he still won a heck of  a lot of football games.

Lambeau just won't be the same without him.  Many fans dislike Aaron because he is the next QB  in Lambeau.  I don't feel that way, I just think he won't be healthy long.  And that might be a good thing, the other 2 QB's have  a lot of talent....

24 Comments on It is a sad, sad day in Green Bay. Wave Bye-bye to #4. Brett - no more!

Thank you!  The vikes are on there way to a division championship now with #4 out of the way!  Hey we would of taken him with open arms just as we took Darrin Sharper from ya!

Brett will be with Gruden and see what they can accomplish with the same style team down there in Tampa Land, but can he fish for alligators?

Brett Farve Rocks!  Thats from a Vikings Fan!

He is a great player and unfortunately, he painted the team into a corner.  He will be missed.

April - I could not help but to comment on your post. I love football and all I hear right now is  Brett may come to Tampa. Brett made the announcement back early this year that he would retire. In my humble opinion Brett should stay retire. I can't imagine him wearing another color other than green with the number 4.

Being a Miami Dolphin fan I remember when Dan Marino retired. There were rumors he would go to the Vikins, luckily he stayed retired earning him a bust at Canton, OH. So will Brett the first go around I'm sure. In this very competitive sport, there are only a few that get to retire after a long career with one team.

As far as the search for a Quarterback, if it takes as long as Miami, who still has not found the right Quarterback, you guys are in for a long haul.

Wasn't in the right frame of mind?  Isn't he the player that never missed a game? How bout they send him to Philly?  Green Bay can have #5

Dave - Thank you for making me smile today.  YEah, I was disappointed when Sharper went to the Vikes!  I really hoped Brett would go there, I think he'd kick "our" butt.... do I sound a little bit miffed??? NAH!

Dale - I don't think he painted them into a corner, they haven't wanted him here for a couple of years.  They have wanted to start "rebuilding" the team for awhile now.  After last year and taking a "green" team to the Championship level, I thought they'd look at it all differently.  Silly me.

Isn't it the goal of the year to go to the play-offs and hopefully the Superbowl???? The best chance at that was with BRETT on our team!

08/06/2008 03:11 PM by April Hayden-Munson Realtor, Southeastern Wisconsin (RE/MAX Realty 100)

Petra - None of the fans here can imagine him in another color or on another team.  But he misses the game, all he has ever done is played football.  I guess he can't figure out what else to do and while he is still healthy he wants to play.  I can't imagine doing that with all the aches and pains he must have from playing so long... Oh, well.  If he has to go to another team, I'm not sure which one I'd rather he play on.... not that I have any say so.

Linda - doesn't that comment make you mad!  It made me mad!  I can only think that the right frame of mind means he wasn't ready to step down to let someone else start!  After the number of career starts, and not  missing a SINGLE game, how can anyone blame him for that!  My blood pressure is rising again!

08/06/2008 03:15 PM by April Hayden-Munson Realtor, Southeastern Wisconsin (RE/MAX Realty 100)

Richard - alot of teams could use him.  Funny, the other teams see so much more value in him than his own....

Hi April,

Your blog compelled me to pick up the phone and call Sweetie. He is a huge Vikings fan and we both agree that Minnesota would love to have him. (And Brett's fans could fill the seats lol.)

Brett may have had a wild arm, but he went for all or nothing. I admire this a great deal in anybody and everybody. It's not really if you win the fight or not, it's if you're willing to show up and throw a few punches.

The really sad thing is when an athlete fails to realize it is time to turn the page.  Of course he was outstanding, but the team and sport has to move on,  Karen

I am glad our Vikes didn't take him...It wold have just thrown a good young QB out of rythem and confidence for some years down the road.

Management in Packerland prevails. As it does in many other unfair conditions. Who manages management? Management manages management....very unfair.  Its a sad day when Brett Favre cant play for the Packers. Disgusting and sickening!

April~ Too bad, but didn't he change his mind last minute about retiring.... he was already replaced, right?...such is life... wouldn't it be nice to be able to retire at age 38???

JL - And that wild arm won us quite a few games!  He get's wilder if he's behind.  That caused his bad interception record.  But at times it also turned the game around.  You gotta love watching him.  Now I have to start watching the Jets.....

08/07/2008 09:39 AM by April Hayden-Munson Realtor, Southeastern Wisconsin (RE/MAX Realty 100)

Tim - He certainly would be a good addition to the Chicago team.  Not happening, and I have to say I'm happy about that.  Sorry!  That Wisconsin/Illinios rivalry ya know!

08/07/2008 09:40 AM by April Hayden-Munson Realtor, Southeastern Wisconsin (RE/MAX Realty 100)

Karen, It might not yet be time to turn the page.  Time will tell.  I hope for Brett he has a great year playing for the New York Jets!

08/07/2008 09:41 AM by April Hayden-Munson Realtor, Southeastern Wisconsin (RE/MAX Realty 100)

David - I respectfully disagree - if he wanted only money, he'd just have to sit home and hunt - making millions!

08/07/2008 09:42 AM by April Hayden-Munson Realtor, Southeastern Wisconsin (RE/MAX Realty 100)

Oh mr Obeoman - why do you think Brett needs the money?  I think he's pretty well set and is in it for competing!  Good thing the JETS have the money...
