old ladyWe Must Stop This Immediately!

Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper .  Groceries are heavier .  And, everything is farther away.  Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long   our street had become!

old ladyAnd, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones.  They speak in whispers all the time!  If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face!  What do they think I am, a lip reader?

old ladyI also think they are much younger than I was at the same age.  On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am.  I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.

old lady

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection. Well, REALLY NOW - even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!

old ladyAnother thing, everyone drives so fast these days!  You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them.  All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.

old ladyClothing manufacturers are less civilized these days.  Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20?  Do they think no one notices? The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank.  Do they think I actually 'believe' the number I see on that dial?  HA!  I would never let myself weigh that much!  Just who do these people think they're fooling?

old ladyI'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on - but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in there!

All I can do is pass along this warning:
WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!

Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful indignities.

ROTF -- OMG that made my day lol. Very good post and I am going to pass that onto my mom -- she will get a total kick out of it. Thank you for sharing.

Ha, ha!  I too, am going to share this with others. It took me a minute to "get it" when I read the first paragraph as I was wondering how streets would get longer...  I am chalking that up to being tired!

Thanks Jennifer and Libby!  I swear that when I look in my mirror it reminds me of one of those old 'fun house' (warped type) mirrors!  I think the hot shower water running warped it!

Mary... I laugh every time I see this because I see a little more of myself in this every time I read it.  Geez... Thanks for the bigger font, btw.  Time is just cruel! :)

Mary, I have noticed this happening here in AZ, too.  Another thing is the heat is hotter.  What is this world coming to?

I just hate when this happens.  But I am thinking that maybe it is some type of national epidemic.  I have several friends who seem to be experiencing similar problems.  Oy... the pain of it all...

I think it has something to do withthe housing crisis?  Do you think?  LOL!  Or maybe is it George Bushes fault.  Heck he gets blamed for every thing.

I want to know when did sleep start beating up my body? It used to be when I went to bed I woke up nice and refreshed. Now when I move to get out of bed, place my feet on the floor, oy the pain, the pain. My feet, my legs, my back, my shoulders.

Who (or what) is coming in to my room at night and doing such dastardly things to my body as I sleep? I would call the police but my phone is all the way across the room and oy, my feet, my legs, my back my shoulders.

Great Mary.  You forgot a few.

What about the 20 something behind the counter that ignores you standing there and continues to wait on the 20 and 30 somethings who just arrived.  At what age do we become invisible??

You're right.  At least we can laugh at ourselves.

Mary, Priceless and a great sense of humor. Thanks for the font size.... now that's how I remember the print, when it was large enough for me to read it. Lately everything has gotten so small..

lol... that was great Mary.  I've forwarded it on to my Dad.  He turns 60 in September, and we can't get him to get his eyes examined for the life of us.  Too funny.  Thanks for sharing.
